Flowers for the great Toni Morrison, who passed away seven years ago today 💐💐
(i thought this man was dead) 🤷🏾♀️
Karl Rove's little whiteboard on Fox News, lol. Like... idk, man. I'm not sure that the strategy of expecting people to know a bunch of Hasan Piker lore AND them caring enough about it to the point that it affects who they vote for is going to work, but okay.
it took 3 weeks but we finally have some worthwhile odyssey discourse on this app
So did Christopher Nolan choose an actor with a big juicy ass on purpose to play that one corpse? Or did he choose some random extra and it was just a coincidence that he was thiccums?
"negative criticism of a thing I like is a major social problem" is an incredibly cowardly take. if you disagree with her, disagree. don't hide behind a moral panic. it makes you look like a ridiculous spineless lump. 1
If the academy gets pulled into coming out swinging against the biggest adaptation of Homer in probably a couple generations off the back of one prominent scholar deciding to be Reviewer 2 to Nolan's work, it will say, IMO, pretty damning things about academia's ability to foster public engagement.
All it took for these right wing douchebags to magically come out in favor of the odyssey after spending months rabidly trying to cancel it was one (1) educated woman criticizing it lol

This is the exact same behavior I saw with cheaters on steam. They couldn’t believe everyone else wasn’t cheating. They were sure everyone else was cheating but just hadn’t been caught. It’s cool to see this mental defect move from 15 year old boys to powering our economy….
My answer is LOL ROFL (dickbrain) The terminally AI-pilled can't even *imagine* some people have *never* asked stochastic parrots to cheat at their job for them.
if you're watching a drama and suddenly a character launches into a pro- USA USA propaganda monologue, you maybe watching a Taylor Sheridan joint
I do love nothing in the world so well as you-is not that strange?
The day that Ray Bradbury died I was on book tour and that night I read "There Will Come Soft Rains" to my audience instead of the usual reading.
Today, August 4, 2026, is the setting of Ray Bradbury’s short story “There Will Come Soft Rains” about a fully automated house continuing on after the family who lived there and the world around it died in a nuclear blast.
did i miss my window to warn Jeanine Pirro to ease up on the self tanner?
my neighborhood 7-11 closed a couple years ago and tried to reopen but couldn’t get the permit approved because there’s a preschool next door and 7-11s sell alcohol (the previous permit was grandfathered in). i saw a fence going up around the lot recently and looked up what was moving in: a gun shop
This is the play in every single industry at the moment. A massive bailout for mediocre white underachievers .
After a middling WNBA career, blonde haired, blue eyed Sophie Cunningham has positioned herself for post-basketball success and riches as a conservative mouthpiece. This is the pattern that always works because conservatives are very very dumb and will latch onto anyone who promotes hate.
Being horny for people is now a left-liberal activity and I am **profoundly** confused by this.
The academic use of LLM makes up less than 2% of the technology’s valuation and less than 1% of the entire sector’s carbon footprint. We can support that and reduce AI’s bogarting of resources by 98%. And should.
There is a certain level of obtuseness in (some) "AI" apologists when they flounce up to point out what "AI" is good for in science, etc, while eliding the fact that almost none of that use is driving the current market capitalization, environmental degradation and resource hogging of the field
I picked this up to read to my grandchildren someday.
Romare's sketch of James Baldwin in the title page of a copy of Just Above My Head.
Today is the birthday of cartoonist Jackie Ormes (Aug. 1, 1911-Dec. 26, 1985), the first Black woman to create a newspaper comic strip that was read nationally in the US. She created Torchy Brown in Dixie to Harlem, Torchy in Heartbeats & Patty-Jo ‘n’ Ginger. Patty Jo became a toy doll.
Emily, I'm not remotely tired of this discourse
my absolutely spoiler free review 1. i am a major Nolan stan (Tenet is my favourite of his filmography) some of it feels uneven. someone seems miscast. you bring yourself into the experience of art the more contemplative you are the more you may get out of it. see it to discover why you love/hate it

struck by this clip of Josh Johnson standup: he doesn't really develop the theme, no real punchlines. he just says what people have been complaining about re: The Odyssey and everyone laughs for *3 minutes* because a professional comedian *could not improve upon it* www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKcv...
Some people were so mad about the casting of The Odyssey

I cannot get over that the right is doing 2016 representation politics while the left is having Harold Bloom type beef
I am here to defend the noble action movie from the classicist Emily Wilson: aftermath.site/the-odyssey-em...
I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful
put some octavia butler in the little free library in my neighborhood and it's gone now.
