In an age of Heaven's turning, the sage ruler shall preserve the land and uphold virtue. 'Heaven made the mountain Gu Gong opened the land The works were completed Yet King Wen made them more grand'

A Muslim with a very Arab name running on a left-wing platform winning a statewide Democratic primary anywhere — let alone the Midwest — would have been unthinkable even a year or two ago. Now comes the hard part but this is still an incredible victory.

The decisive failure of GOP referenda in Kansas Amendment 1 and Missouri Amendment 4 yesterday is yet another reminder of something I've been saying for a while: Voters, even Republican voters, now regularly despise and repudiate GOP attempts to use them to destroy democracy.

Centrists are trying to spin a sitting member of Congress with an 11:1 spending advantage losing as a win somehow. They should be ignored. But AES has a lot of work to do and I think we needed a bit of a punch in the face because let’s be real, we were riding a little too high.

In other Michigan news, the state looks set to elect it's first transgender lawmaker. Joanna Whaley won her Democratic primary and will compete in November for a state house seat, beating a primary opponent who tried and failed to disqualify her for not running under her deadname

Every progressive/lefty candidate has been immensely outspent this year Stevens is a bad candidate in campaigning terms, but is *also* actually to the right of a generic Dem, which hasn’t been true for many defeated incumbents She’s to the right of both Talarico and Crockett on some issues lmao

beating $70 MM in dark money, after getting outspent 9-1, is a good victory, even if it’s by 1 vote, imo 😉👍🏼

If AES does end up winning his supporters obviously can and should feel happy But it’s still a poor performance (imo) against the second-worst establishment candidate of the year

Looks like a 10-15 point polling miss in Michigan regardless of who wins. And people have been writing a lot of electability takes using this data. It’s dangerous out there folks be safe
