We probably need to ban cars until we figure out why this keeps happening.

Glad Zimmerman found his electoral lane (do progressive things to get ranked by progressives ahead of Arnold)
Portland could ban stores from using personal data to set prices. https://mrf.lu/2Z3Zs
Honest question, is it more considerate to grill/smoke meat when the air quality is good, or bad? I figure everyone will be holed up so I should be okay to smoke? I also would rather not cook inside when we are in a heatwave.
Good faith questions from progressives on council look like billionaire bashing when your baseline is complete boot licking. Bill, he isn't into us! Deal with it!
“It is easy to form a certain opinion of a city when you view it only through a spreadsheet. And that it’s easy to dismiss its people when they don’t leap at the chance to give you millions.” — @billoram.bsky.social
yeah but a key difference here is that free parks and free public schools build a healthier and more educated population and free parking turns a bunch of adults into entitled children who shit their pants on the internet.
Someone should propose to abandon the I5RQ freeway expansion and spend the money on Moda. Would love to see how the current sides shake out.
When are we going to acknowledge that dundon is not a good negotiator and seeing this behavior from anyone else would warrant remedial classes in leadership and negotiation.

You must pay lots of money to me because as CEO I spend my time on very important, high value matters, like whining about the height a statue is placed. www.oregonlive.com/portland/202...
A restored Lincoln statue is coming back to Portland — but not everyone likes how
The city’s redesign brings Lincoln “closer to the public” in a way critics called “demeaning.”

Things that didn’t get 20✨ articles: -Smith saying Avalos doesnt represent Black Portlanders, using guns against constituents - Pirtle Guiney yelling “fuck you!” On the dais to Sameer, making staff cry - Novick’s “fuck yourself in the heart” got 1 - Clark comparing foie gras bans to abortion bans
If you think Morillo is the councilor on the dais with “frequent outbursts” you are not paying attention. Morillo happens to have a mastery of language, unique turns of phrase, & great comedic timing, so her one liners get extra attention. (Plus the other reasons young women of color get scrutiny).
We choose to build bike lanes in this city not because it’s easy, but because we want to make driving hard.
Proud of these stats. (Also just to be clear, "off" includes coasting without assist in addition to pedaling without the motor).
A random e-bike summer observation, but over the past month or so, I’ve successfully lowered the amount of assistance from the motor, which not only increases the battery range but also suggests that my physical fitness is improving.
Mamdani demonstrates that, even when you cannot do something, there's a lot of different ways not to do it. Those ways can be politically powerful.
Benjamin Netanyahu is a war criminal.
Man living in Beaverton, holding an empty lot in East Portland for decades and who probably made hundreds of thousands of dollars on in appreciation, complains about an ESD raising his tax bill from $2300 to $3500. Won't someone think of the poor rentier class and speculators!
Tabling with the @bikeloudpdx.bsky.social crew at the Guinness World Record e-bike ride! I see you @robgalanakis.bsky.social 👀
This is funny because Jones Beach and the Poconos suck ass and it says a lot about human psychology, yeah man whatever we were doing at those ages are going to be your best childhood memories! My kids' are going to be riding bikes to get ice cream in a great city.
We would have never been able to go Jones Beach or the Poconos in the summer if we didn't have a car, and those are literally some of my best childhood memories.
I like Brandon, would have ranked him highly, hope he runs again. But IMO this is a blessing in disguise for progressives. Very little chance Novick does not rank top 3; If he won, Mullen would have bumped TKL, who is clearly most vulnerable, and not markedly different. /
Rough news: I'm no longer running for Portland City Council. I missed a voter registration deadline by a few weeks. That's on me. I don't want others to make the same mistake and asked the Auditor's Office to update a few key places (website, residency requirements section of the guide, webinar).
one time when i was like 20 maybe my then-boyfriend and his parents (who were quite wealthy and conservative, and we didn't like them) and some other random extended family members were going to the coast for the weekend and i volunteered to go by to feed the dog
Three doable things that Somerville is doing different from other Vision Zero stars: 1. Speed humps. They're everywhere. Not just on local streets, and not on a BS petition or speed study basis. 2. They're not punting on doing an all-ages bike network. 3. Exclusive ped phases. They're miraculous.
"Last year alone the city installed more than 70 traffic-calming features on its streets, including speed humps and painting stripes on crosswalks to increase visibility."

what is the reverse historical dorito? the thing from the past that would blow our minds in a positive way
pham’s law: for every problem in oregon there is a khanh pham bill that would have fixed it
Oregon almost asked. A Senate amendment by @senkhanhpham.bsky.social required exactly two things: private capital and a share of gross revenue. It died in the rush of a short session. The idea was never refuted — it wasn’t even allowed to be considered.
1/ OK! We analyzed all ~5,300 pages of public records on the Moda Center deal — every email, text, contract, and invoice produced so far. Before Portland commits ~$850M+ ($1.12B after interest), here’s what every Portlander should know. It’s not the story you’ve been told. 🧵
Traveling for the next few days, but all of this information just dropped and there is so much information about the entire Moda process none of us have heard about including Project Mt.Hood details, the early promises made, etc internet do your thing portlandor.govqa.us/WEBAPP/_rs/(...
