Growing up we got told all about the 'banality' of evil. You don't have to *look* like a bad guy to be evil, evil is the guy on your street who turns in their neighbour to the secret police, etc. But nobody warned me about the STUPIDITY of evil. It's the stupidity that makes me feel like giving up

It always comes back to this. People not understanding the difference between freedom of speech and freedom from consequences. You can have whatever insane, bullshit beliefs you like, but if you share them outside the WhatsApp group people are allowed to tell you to fuck off in response.

Also helpful in the current context. If you have people openly saying that they are quite consciously setting their own careers on fire, fully understanding what the consequences will be, then how much sympathy are we affording them when their careers do in fact catch fire and burn to a cinder?

The wild thing about this is that, at root, this is every opinion in the UK. Me, my friends and family are real people and we should be treated with kindness and respect. Everyone else is a grifting fake taking money out of my pocket and using up resources that should be mine.

Absolutely peak British media this, "I the deserving, you the fucking pig people". Say what you like about Marie Antoinette, she at least thought the poor should have cake. Weapons grade amounts of self regard and misanthropy

Screen shot of Julie Burchill with the headline "I deserve every penny of my PIP – most people don’t" and the sub
"Julie Burchill: I spend my PIP on the expensive business of being disabled".

In the end it boils down to an accusation of plagiarism from a racist against a black professor, who was found innocent of those charges. That professor was then hounded to death for... reasons? Also, the framing of 'self defined race realist' is outrageous. You have to be better than this, BBC.

Screenshot of BBC news article about the death of Professor Arday, noting that the accusation of misconduct was dismissed after being brought against him by a racist who was fired for being racist.

The reason I've gone more left in recent years is that I previously accepted that we simply couldn't afford decent cheap housing, heavily subsidised transport, a universal basic income, etc. Then in 20 years in politics I saw what we actually could afford. And it's a lot. It's just never for you.

I work in TV. It's nearly impossible to find a gig that doesn't end up compromising your values... But: if you're working on HP you have blood on your hands. Directly. The work you're doing is funding lawsuits against *Amnesty International* and trans folk everywhere. So if that's you: Fuck you.
