Two things about Brand New Day: -Frank Castle uses bead mats in his van (I approve) -Am fairly sure the ground floor (and possibly more) of Damage Control is the bit of Senate House that I walk through to get to Russel Sq when I get the express home.

Rejigged plans. Took Brompton for smaller pootle to get used to her again / check how she is after years of little riding. Puncture fairy hit as we reached Hackney. Expected, and really the best place on today's adventure to get one, I suppose.
Debating taking the Brompton out for my extended meandering through Angel / Dalston / Hackney tomorrow. Mostly concerned about where I last put the keys for the big D-lock, and whether my Chucks will be enough protection for my toes given the inevitable droppings of said lock on them.
To all the vegetarians, or people who think the cattle industry has a negative impact on the environment, I have one question: Could you go an entire day without eating any bacon, chicken, beef, or any type of meat? Imagine everywhere only stocked vegetarian alternatives - how would you cope?
Guys like this don’t realize that they are the freak
I saw Netflix trailing an old Channel 4 series as NETFLIX ORIGINAL and that doesn’t help defending public service broadcasting at all.
Can you help by sharing or chipping in a few pounds/dollars/euro etc? Reading for pleasure is in real trouble and one of the blockers is access to recent, relevant books for kids that aren't tatty. If they can raise 1k euro they can get a book for every kid in the school #Booksky #KidLit
I've set up a fundraiser to help stock my kid's school with new library books. These aren't text books but books the children can read for pleasure. Maybe you aren't in a position to donate right now but, if not, could you please help by sharing? Thank you! #speirgorm #BookSky gofund.me/55e46e8ca

James Waterhouse is in the building, and he is quite a bit larger than he looks on the telly.

Because I am TERRIBLE at timing, I am selling my boxed #Transformers Predaking mere DAYS after everyone is all knackered and spent from #TFN! Boxed and complete (haven't even applied stickers!) - selling Due To Broke. Also, please enjoy the description. I am once again Back On My eBay Bullshit.
And honestly, we don’t know all that much about what’s all out there. The farther you go, the less we know! As such, it’s well within the realm of possibility such a planet exists.
In the kids' judo class my dad taught, the sweet and unassuming students who could and would wipe the floor with you in a few seconds were mostly girls. Dad laughs about the sudden "oh shit" realisation of various boys (and occasionally grown men) who he put them up against to train.
There's a Bernthal quote about how the guys yelling about how badass they are never the people in a martial arts class you have to worry about. it's always the quiet ones. I used to train in the same class as a US Marine. Dude was funny, chatty, great teacher. Actual trained killer. Sweetest guy.
(Just clarifying that this is actual protections, against AI generated images and nudes etc, not something transphobic). An important thread.
🧵Public consultations are used to craft new laws and really worth your while! This one is about protections for women and girls in the justice system. If you have or work with children, bear with me on this thread 🙏 consult.gov.scot/justice/prot...
My friend is moving house soon, and her husband had me print a load of these for everyone who's helping them, so when it gets a bit much, we can just hand one to her, and honestly? To be loved is to be known.
We go on holiday in a couple of weeks and our finances are currently sub-optimal so I’m opening up ten Silly Little Guy slots. Usual rules apply: ⭐️ No portraits ⭐️ £30 each (via PayPal) ⭐️ Just simple silly guys My DMs are open! As ever, any and all shares are appreciated x
Today is Venn Day, in celebration of the mathematician John Venn, born on this day in 1834. To commemorate the occasion, here’s a poem in the form of a Venn Diagram.
When someone is described as "often controversial, never boring" in 2026 it just means: full nazi but also part of the establishment.
Freeview switch-off is a terrible idea for many reasons, not least that the signal is much, much more reliable than broadband and isn't subject to DNS attacks.

I'm reading it via Libby (still) atm and it's marvellous, even if I am a wee bit nervous about what Monisha's going to say about the Nightjet.
Thrilled to announce that Moonlight Express is a Waterstones Book of the Month for August! lots of signed copies available for armchair travellers..
In light of the “good faith questions” discourse I just wanted to re-up @reveleth.com’s fascinating podcast about the complex (and frequently appalling) history and present of policing sexual biology in women’s sports.
Hello new people! My latest project was a 10+ year labor of love and it would mean the world to me if you checked it out. www.tested-podcast.com It’s a narrative, deep, complex and suspenseful story of gender, sports, science, and “fairness.”

There are no tutorials for weaving in neatly on loose knitting. I might offer points for spotting each variation I tried.

Hmmmm, not wholly sure about the new YDTM theme tune. They could have at least got the team behind the updated Moral Maze theme.

I watched the first episode of the Good Life last night kinda by accident and a) Margot isn't even in it (except her voice) and b) Tom is turning 40, hasn't had a promotion in 8 years and has paid off the mortgage on a semi-detached in Surbiton. Also he calls Barbara a bitch in the first scene!
If we got another thunderstorm like that 4am one, no one would mind not having slept properly again that day.
Those in the North keep posting on here or telling me on WhatsApp that it's raining. Oh sweet envy, you deadliest of sins! A few mm were forecast for E4 next Tuesday, but alas diminishing all the time. London really is horrible in this weather, 20,000 streets crusted with dried dog & fox urine.
oh my god!!!! there's an actual answer!!!! Google Maps does hide Brighton!!!!!!! bsky.app/profile/robi...
I actually know the answer to this and it's slightly insane. Google pulls from Wikipedia to determine if a place is a city, town, neighbourhood, whatever. Brighton's first line describes it as a "seaside resort" so Google Maps thinks it's a neighbourhood and doesn't display it in the "city" font.
