I think a shocking number of our major societal problems would vanish overnight if you could magically pull the plug on the X platform and Meta, both of which are carefully designed to turn people into the worst version of themselves.

Making something, truly making something, is not as simple as putting in a demand/request & receiving an acceptable output. This is why I am insistent that regardless of what comes out of an LLM (an "AI") is not qualitatively good regardless of its actual content.

I posted a joke the other day about how my kid wanted a Mickey song that didn't exist, and a bunch of people were like "just AI to make it." I understand needing to please a toddler, but man--that's just not how I want him to think about music at all. It's not a vending machine.

every "pride" Democrat org: "For party leadership, the caucus is simply a recruitment and sales team. The job, in their eyes, is not to represent the LGBTQ+ community to the party, but to sell Democratic candidates to the LGBTQ+ community, regardless of the harm those candidates may cause."

Today, I resigned as Vice Chair of the ODP Pride Caucus. The state party expects us to be a sales team, censoring our voices when we beg candidates not to trade on trans lives. I am still a Democrat, but I will not value party approval over true, defiant advocacy. Full text below. 👇

Part 1 of an open letter of resignation by Arienne Childrey, stepping down as Vice Chair and member of the Ohio Democratic Party (ODP) Pride Caucus. She states that party leadership treats the caucus as a recruitment and sales team rather than a representative body. She cites an incident where the ODP censored and denied permission for the caucus to post a letter by two trans leaders addressing harmful comments made by Democratic gubernatorial candidate Amy Acton. The State Party Chair reportedly called the letter an "unwelcome distraction," which Childrey notes demonstrates how little party leadership values the voices and dignity of LGBTQ+ Democrats.

I'm addition, it's not just to sell democrats to queers, it's to sell "democrats love queers" to cishets. it's straight up pinkwashing. rainbow flag ai-powered genocide. trans people say fuck no and we get tossed out on our asses for it. and we still say fuck no.

I will not be creating for a platform that both uses and promotes AI generated content. #VRChat please join me in placing this poster in your worlds. share it and edit it freely, spread it as far as you can. nothing is going to change if we don't put our foot down now. vrc.group/NOAI.3843

“how do we win back trump voters in 2026” we don’t. we create an environment where admitting to voting for trump is so socially embarrassing as to render them completely inert. you don’t “win back” trump voters. you demoralize them into staying home. you make it a dunce cap

Best part of this muddled article by one of Bloomberg's money guys is that two of the charts make a compelling case that knee-jerk opposition to AI is wholly justified because technological progress doesn't increase productivity, it just enables greater income extraction by capital. Oops!

Productivity Growth Has Been Stuck Below Its Postwar Pace for 50 YearsWorkers’ Slice Shrinks, Profits’ Slice Grows

Columnist Stephen Rattner probably got screwed over by the headline writer, but I'm seriously floored at how poor a job these six charts do at showing that we need AI.

Something AI is responsible for that doesn't get enough talk: How, when it scrapes a website to illegally steal everything on it, it uses up a ton of its bandwidth allotment, crashing it or racking up massive fees for site owners.

Yet again, the Game UI Database is being scraped to the point that it's getting knocked offline. Even Cloudflare's "I'm under attack" mode isn't working. I just wanted to create a resource for real designers. I'm getting so fucking sick of this.

I don't know what can replace it, but it simply can't be the system going forward that people who make things lose income because ten seconds of a two hour video has a copyrighted song in the background, but gAI companies can steal data to make bots to try to replace those same people's jobs

Cruise line video was removed by YouTube over truly the dumbest copyright strike. Obviously fighting it, it’ll be back up in a few weeks like nothing happened. This is not an ad for Nebula, but it is still available on Nebula: nebula.tv/videos/linds...
