Even trying to *get* a protection order put my life at risk. The most recent femicides here in Ontario involved women being killed by men they had protection orders against. The system needs to change.

Based on surveys with survivors AND professionals, they found: The vast majority of participants agreed that protection orders matter. Yet only a small minority said that protection orders are working well.
People kicked off about medical trials on non consenting research subjects and eventually we won the helsinki declaration on medical ethics. There's no cop in the world in charge of enforcing the helsinki declaration. It's just a formalisation of the idea that you need medical consent for research.

Goldie@goldienewt.bsky.social · 21h agoLet's talk about airplanes or restaurants filled with cigarette smoke as a norm. Public life before the mid 80s was like living in an ash tray. People smoked defensively just so they wouldn't have to breathe other people's smoke.
