If understand the rules correctly, a trigger warning preceding a reading about sexual assault is unacceptable coddling and anti-free-speech, but also if a reading causes an adult student “mild discomfort” that’s a firing offense.

Just so you know: this article gets into the history of the bar exam, and you should know that the point when people started pounding on about keeping "unqualified" people from practicing law was coincident with the point when Black people started graduating from law schools.

I get that Nolan was trying to do something very specific with this movie, and he seems to have accomplished that. I also appreciate Wilson’s point that by doing so, Nolan used the text as more of a backdrop to the message he wanted to convey, making it a shallow interpretation. Both can be true.

FYI there is no "real" reason why Rome "fell." Its power waned for the usual, mundane reasons: widening gap between rich and poor, inability to maintain infrastructure, incompetent leadership, pointless wars, endless persecution of marginalized groups who performed vital labor, etc.
