the thing about "separating the art from the artist" is that it comes from academic circles where they were trying to separate an artist's views from an interpretation of their work as an intellectual exercise, not as a way to give people moral carte blanche to support shitty people

This person actually compared Harry Potter to a cure for an incurable disease. This is what passes as intellectual debate. All they have are made up long walk attempted gotchas because to them trans people are not real human beings struggling to survive. Our rights aren't a thought exercise!

The right wing media personality pipeline is actually an enormously influential piece of political infrastructure. The lack of any similar route to monetizing leftwing views means that spreading right wing ideas is a viable career, and promoting left wing ideas is a hobby. Activists need to eat too
