This is ... silly? The fact that the program was "unfunded" doesn't mean it was free or that cancelling it doesn't save money. It's a real insight into how some people in government have locked themselves in a mental prison of accounting

the World Cup routinely gets the biggest global audiences of all tv. it simply does not need to debase itself in this way. this does not add to the game, it does not grow the audience, it does not serve any purpose but to get Gianni Infantino closer to some more famous people.

It is mad that we have, somehow, allowed net zero - a policy common to all major parties under 5 years ago and supported by a majority of the public - to become a synoym for mad radicalism. It is doubly mad that we've allowed this to happen during the hottest summer on record.
