Oregon has set a record for the worst fire season in history, with 2m acres burned, and 2 months before the return of fall rains. Climate change is here. It looks like scorched forests, fires that encroach on major cities, & lost commerce and recreation. My video report from smoke fouled Portland

The skull of a Flat-tail horned lizard (Phrynosoma mcallii), close relative of the 'Texas horny-toad', native to the Sonoran desert. Unlike the thorny spikes on the body that are made of modified skin keratin, head spikes (horns) are bony skeletal structures covered in keratin. (πŸ“·: Emily Chebul)

It looks like another frivolous Trump lawsuit -- this one vs the WSJ and Rupert Murdoch over the Epstein birthday-card story -- is going down in flames. I've lost track how many of these never get to the discovery, much less the trial, phase. www.theguardian.com/media/2026/a...

Judge signals Trump’s defamation lawsuit against Wall Street Journal may be dismissed again

Obama-appointed judge seemed unmoved by Trump attorneys’ arguments in case also naming Murdoch

β€œEven if the forecast El NiΓ±o is less strong than some models predict, it will tip many countries over the edge, adding more than a fifth to the 225 million people in 45 countries currently in acute food insecurity, the UN’s World Food Programme (WFP) warned on Wednesday.β€œ

🚨TIL the 1877 Super El NiΓ±o killed more than 3% of the world’s population. Our modern world should be resilient enough to prevent that β€” but then came Trump’s perfect storm of dismantling government, abandonment of international institutions, and war related bottlenecks.🚨

This is potentially very important. If history repeats, it could be catastrophic. youtube.com/watch?v=69o-...

I will say Detroit is really a "two things can be true" kinda town and that's what excites me and infuriates me. you will hear from national (and not local) folks analyzing what happened here but a local can tell you that this is 50+ years of inter-racial relations a play here.

now let's get to Mike Rogers. everybody in this state knows he is a shill. technically doesn't even live here anymore. and Michigan isn't down in the dumps economically but shit ain't sweet either. and we've damaged our relationship with Canada, vital for our economy. fin

so that an organizer won up against a machine and a shitton of money... that means something has shifted here too. Abdul didn't lose Detroit, per se, rather he went up against a community that rightly so doesn't trust easily and are focused on harm reduction. the work starts all over again, now.
