Will Stancil@whstancil.bsky.social · 2w agoNo, the point is "I desperately need to pay 25k tomorrow and have absolutely no way to do it" is a pretty rare circumstance. In most instances, for most people, an expected value of 500k is better than accepting a 90% discount so you can pay off a bill.
If in year one you make $50k, and in year three you will also make $50k, but for year two, because you won an additional $50k, so for that year you have $100k, yes that is transformational of your life, because maybe that extra money means taking a long dreamed of trip, or getting married etc.
