TV writer (SWAMP THING! SHINING VALE!) Friend to books, horses, and old movies. I am pro-Oxford comma.

Seeing all sorts of references to Weird Girl Lit these days, so now’s my chance to beg everyone to take an hour to read Christina Rossetti’s 1962 poem, “Goblin Market.” You are simply not prepared for how crazy it goes.

like yeah, geniuses, if you have a slave who you aren’t allowing to get their own food & housing, you have to feed & house them, weird to be all “I want a traditional woman who will raise my children and not work so I can control her through my money” and then be like “women care if I have money?!?”

weird how men built societies in which women could only access basic resources through men and are now trying to return us to that while also complaining that women who try to access resources through men are gold diggers

Someone once told me that it's "classist" to advocate for people to have indoor cats because you need to buy them lots of expensive toys. Marcel has been playing with the discarded stem of a fresh green bean for 20 minutes. 🤷‍♀️

It was so damn depressing to watch every TV writer who was willing and eager to have open, intelligent conversations about their process get hounded off social by a combination of aggressive stans and belligerent wannabes defending the right to be a shithead to creatives

I keep thinking about the discourse from the other day suggesting writers are gatekeeping writing information for ourselves and I just think back to 2019 when every writer was out there giving away writing advice until one by one each stopped because social media blows and we can't have nice things.

Today, August 4, 2026, is the setting of Ray Bradbury’s short story “There Will Come Soft Rains” about a fully automated house continuing on after the family who lived there and the world around it died in a nuclear blast.

My thoughts on Bluesky not being welcoming to Republicans is Trump blocks disaster relief to states voting blue, & is also legally codifying anyone who opposes him as a terrorist deserving violence, & his kidnapping brute gangs terrorize the streets, & there's much more but I'm out of characters

"Bluesky is a political echo chamber" okay but I'm mostly here to chat with fun internet people and post art and make jokes, I cannot stress how much I don't care

Exactly. This is where theory is so helpful as a lens. (This is adding to not contradicting OP) So if you have a critical feminist lens, you understand that these are both the same project of marginalizing women and maintaining a binary that (white, cis, straight, wealthy) men are in charge of.

12 year old girls get genital inspections "for their safety" while wife beaters get endorsed for re-election. This whole protecting women and girls thing is a bit confusing.

I rewatched Mallrats last night, and while it still has its charms, it occurred to me that we’ve been suffering the glut of male-centric pop culture fixations in our media for a long, long time. Imagine slacker comedies by women that talked incessantly about Barbies becoming enduring hits.
