Vile transphobic bigot Bridget Phillipson is leaving trans women survivors of domestic violence with nowhere to go. Trans people are particularly vulnerable to domestic violence & this disgusting government taking away support is putting lives in danger. Statement by @galopuk.bsky.social.

If the UK Government's position is, as the Minister for Women and Equalities, Bridget Phillipson, said on Sunday, that trans women should not be allowed in women's refuges, then it's their job to ensure trans+ people have accommodation they can access. Anyone who is escaping abuse and violence deserves a safe place to go.
But the Supreme Court Ruling and the EHRC's updated Code of Practice has put trans+ victims and survivors in a dangerous state of limbo with no clear guidance on what services they can turn to.
Over the last year, it has been virtually impossible for our frontline services to find anywhere safe for trans+ victims and survivors to go. Despite the fact that trans+ people are at particularly high risk of experiencing abuse and violence. We need direct action now from the UK Government to support trans+ people to find safe accommodation.

The news earlier today has really upset me. I think it's great they're doing what they're doing and I understand why and wish them all the best. It's not them, it's the reason why. That they had the strength of character and determination to do it even though it's so hard. And I'm not sure I do 😔

I'm so glad those who can leave, are. For their safety, peace of mind and future. It always starts with those who can; the professionals, the Doctors, the judges, the researchers, the journalists, or those blessed with dual citizenship. but they won't be the last. transrescue.org/how-to-get-out

Cal and their family shouldn't have to do this. It's tough being a trans adult in the uk and it's torture being a trans child. The government could cheaply fix it so easily but they either don't care or want us to suffer. Sacrificing the human rights of a minority to keep the media onside.

New blog: Leaving the UK with a heavy heart. growinguptransgender.com/2026/10/02/l...

I’m considering leaving the UK also. I don’t want to. I’m a Londoner through & through. Burnham is by far the most transphobic PM ever. Transphobia is a flagship Labour policy. It’s also a political litmus test for how it will treat minorities & capitulate to oligarch media. A test it has failed.

You have not misunderstood, sadly. They have an exhibition that they just put up celebrating a bunch of Surpreme Court-y things. A section of it is dedicated to the FWS ruling, including some gushy quotes from one of the justices lying about how happy everyone was about the ruling.

Andy Burnham has pledged to work hard for cross party support for moving Britain forward. Labour - anti trans Tories - anti trans Reform - anti trans Lib Dems - trans supportive but weak Greens - pro trans but nobody even counts then a worth listening to

Wait, what? The UK's Supreme Court have a permanent exhibition celebrating a ruling that has pretty much introduced the legal segregation of trans people? Am I going insane or is that just so wrong on so many levels? Please tell me I've misunderstood.

Of note to me is that UK visitors to the US dropped from 4M a year to 2M in the space of 12 months. As seen on the graph, UK visitors stuck at 4M pa for the previous 4 years. (Canada dropped from 20.5M to 7.5M and Mexico from 18M to 10M)

The Supreme Court has responded to the complaint we have raised alongside @translucent.org.uk and @transparentaction.bsky.social and, as expected, they have failed to address the concerns we have raised...

"Dear Trans Advocacy & Complaints Collective, Transparent Action, and
TransLucent
Thank you for your complaint about the Court's new exhibition. I understand
your concern to be that the presentation of For Women Scotland Ltd v The Scottish
Ministers appears to be weighted towards the perspective of those who
campaigned for and celebrated the outcome, while giving insufficient
recognition to those who opposed it. You have confirmed that you are not
challenging the judgment itself or the inclusion of the case in the exhibition.
As Head of External Affairs and Communications, with responsibility for the
exhibition, I have been asked to respond to the matters you have raised. It may
be helpful first to explain the exhibition's purpose and approach.
The Law and Us features 70 appeals heard by the Supreme Court, the Judicial
Committee of the Privy Council and the Appellate Committee of the House of
Lords, the predecessor to the Supreme Court. The cases cover a wide range of
legal issues and were selected to illustrate both the breadth of the Court's work
and the ways in which the law affects people's lives. The exhibition also explains
the creation of the Court, the development of law in the UK and the role of the
Judicial Committee of the Privy Council.
For Women Scotland Ltd v The Scottish Ministers is one of the 70 featured appeals.
As with the other case studies, it explains the background to the dispute, the""legal questions considered, the Justices' decision and a subsequent reflection
from a Justice or another person connected with the law. Images relating to the
appeal or its wider context were selected to help visitors understand the issues.
...You suggest that the headline, "When the law says 'woman', what does it mean?"
could imply that the Court went further than the judgment itself. The headline
refers expressly to the meaning of terms used in law. The question before the
Court concerned the meaning of "woman" and "sex" in a specific piece of
legislation. This is made clear in the case study under the paragraph heading
"The heart of the case". The display does not suggest that the Court provided a
general definition outside of the legislation it was considering.
Regarding your concerns about the images used - which you say "reflects the
perspective of those who celebrated the judgment" while largely ignoring those who
did not - the display features an image of the Scottish Government alongside that
of For Women Scotland, thus representing both parties in the appeal. This is
consistent with the approach taken across the exhibition. Their purpose is to
illustrate the case and its context, rather than to represent every individual or
organisation with an interest in the wider debate. The inclusion of any image
does not signify the Court's endorsement of any person or organisation
depicted. We did not visually represent the interveners; however, details of them
as well as the judgment, are available on the Court's website, along with the
recordings of the hearing and written_legalarguments.
Lady Rose's contribution is a personal reflection on the atmosphere in
Courtroom 1 when the judgment was handed down. It does not endorse a
particular position or present the outcome as a cause for celebration. The
exhibition also states that, when handing down the judgment, the Court
emphasised that trans people remain protected from discrimination under the
Equality Act 2010..""private room, and seats were not allocated according to the position an
individual supported in either case.
I have carefully considered the matters you have raised, examining the wording,
images, personal reflection and contextual material in the exhibition. I am
satisfied that the display accurately explains the issue before the Court, the
judgment and its legal context, and is consistent with the approach taken across
the exhibition. I am also satisfied that the arrangements for members of the
public who attended the judgment hand-down were professional, impartial and
transparent.
If you are dissatisfied with the handling or outcome of your complaint, you may
request a review within 14 days in accordance with the Administrative
Complaints Policy, details of which are available on the Court's website.
Yours sincerely

We’ve written to the UK Supreme Court with a formal complaint about its permanent “The Law and Us” exhibition and its presentation of For Women Scotland TACC, alongside @translucent.org.uk and @transparentaction.bsky.social, are calling for a full review of its wording, imagery, balance and context

The whole thing is a bigoted disgrace. The cis don't have to tell each other if they are married, if they have herpes, if they are a Tory, if they've been convicted of horrendous offences. But if we fail to disclose we're trans, off to prison we go and have to sign the sex offenders register.

You do see how “there is no route to restoring trans rights (as done by the party implementing segregation) than through (the party implementing the segregation)“ sounds right
