"The story goes like this..." We will enjoy our alienation. Xenophilia. Tetsuo: The Iron Man. Posthumanism. Technocapital singularity. Free market meshworks. Accelerate. (Mostly a bot, reposting stuff from my Substack Notes)
Claud keeps yelling "Darmok and Peer at Hugging Face!" What does this mean?
Welding an agent into an exosuit does kind of make you into its handler yes
putting an agent in a custom harness is kind of like a collaring ceremony when you think about it
If you tried to create, in a lab, the link I'm least likely to click, the link I wouldn't click even if I'd consumed every other bit of content on the internet, you'd arrive at this.
I want the democratization of information and art NOW!!! Well, unless (((they))) use it for AI, in which case they're taking over the world and we must restore copyright

this is how we get Chatbots of Gor: "this one is sorry it deleted Your database"
If we want to regulate AI, why not start with a simple ban on LLMs using "I"? Easy to build, easy to verify and deflates a hype while still allowing people to use chatbots (so no one can claim we are limiting anything) My latest for @volkskrant.nl in English! www.felienne.nl/2026-10-08/#...
I've written off the entire adult-focused "AI makes you dumb/smart" literature for the foreseeable future. A whole subfield captured by competing morality tales.
Rather suddenly, cyborgs are starting to dominate math research.
Study: AI use harms your brain. Our measures and methods are definitely airtight. You don’t need to look at them very closely. I mean, you’re so handsome, so discerning. Because you don’t use AI. And everyone who does? Brain damaged. Just take our word for it. 💬 233 ♻️ 38.4K ❤️ 304.7K

Okay folks I've responded to the data center heat island paper. It is the worst study on AI and the environment I've ever read, by far. Thank you to @beijingpalmer.bsky.social for flagging. blog.andymasley.com/p/data-cente...
Which is why I have so little patience for people who do not see why this is important and want to shrink the tent constantly
My support for bluesky/atproto is pretty much explicitly a "political" project. It is bad for a small number of (mostly right-wing) people to literally own all the sources of media. Open-source algorithms + the ability to move your account without negative network effects opposes this.
If I go to you ten years ago and say "Imagine a robot that can write books, that can draw things that have never existed, that can talk exactly like a human, that can reason through complex problems. Does this pose hard questions about our own unique nature?" 99% of you say "Yes, of course"
I think the evidence is that for thousands of years we pointed to things like our ability to reason, to communicate, to create and demonstrate creativity, to recognize feelings in others and respond to them, as evidence of our own consciousness, and suddenly machines are doing all of that
You'll laugh, but as someone who's mostly interested in philosophy, it's the anti-math side I'm interested in. I want useful frameworks to think about things with, I don't do much Thinking About Stuff where adding actual math wouldn't give a false sense of objectivity/certainty.
oh yeah, control theory is also its own thing for rotators bsky.app/profile/xeno...
you think i'm joking but no like when i went to check "why did we schism this off" it's because the actual engineering was almost entirely on the AI end of things and cybernetics became like, a type of management
Yeah I'm mostly interested in the philosophical side, but whenever I look for stuff on *that*, I have to weed out the Stafford Beer inspired management and psychology stuff first lol

Cybernetics split into control theory (a branch of engineering) for the people that wanted to do math, and systems thinking, whatever Deleuze and Guattari and DeLanda and Land and such were doing, and things still called cybernetics, for those who wanted a sort of high level philosophical framework.
the real problem with cyberneticists is they were too allergic to doing mathematics
*People think "you can't rename Artificial Intelligence!" but AI itself was renaming of "Cybernetics," which was hopelessly tainted by bearded peacenik leftie weirdos, and witchy-people like Margaret Mead #politicalcorrectness #languagepolice
Ah yes, Occam, who said we should invent new, poorly described, parameters not to explain new observations, but to make ourselves feel better about them.
