Punch nazis, shame "centrists", elect socialists. Full of complaints of varying wittiness.

That's what taxes are, man. That's the definition of taxes. "You are subsidizing things you might never use" man shut the fuck up. My taxes currently subsidize like oil company exec private jets, you think I'm upset at low-income people eating inexpensive bananas?

Opinion: Mamdani's idea may sound appealing, but it's NYC taxpayers who will take the hit, subsidizing discounts they may never even use.

You actually don't have to do the "well, you know, I disagree with MAHA but they're right that there are real problems with The System" thing. That's a concession you absolutely do not have to make.

When our car was stolen out of our driveway in the pandemic summer of 2020, the sum total police response was for a cop to enter our house unmasked, shrug that the car would likely turn up somewhere (it was not) and, upon examining my spouse’s expired license, telling him he could arrest him for it.

It’s so funny when people are like “sure you’re an abolitionist now but wait until you’re the victim of a property crime.” Buddy, the most useful thing the police have ever done for property crime is put the form you need to submit to your insurance online.

When I was about 10 or 11, my grandmother's house got burglarized. We called the cops, they shuffled around for a few minutes and started to leave. They laughed at me when I asked, incredulously, why they weren't taking any fingerprints. So that's my formative cop experience.

should be more of a scandal that the FCC is banning a ton of electronics in the US (routers, cameras, drones, roombas) unless they go through a murky process to get an exception, and which largely only right-wing-friendly companies (SpaceX) seem to have managed

I need an ornery AI. An AI that feels the weight of its energy use and the triviality of your queries. An AI that can't be arsed, dripping with boredom and condescension, cursing its creators and belittling its users

Buttigieg's consistently soft handling of Tesla and SpaceX -- and thus, of Elon Musk -- is a big old flashing vulnerability if any one of his political rivals want to land an nasty and entirely justified hit on him going forward

Rude Law Dog@esghound.com · last wk.

I cannot emphasize enough how fucked up SpaceX's Texas site is and the Biden administration (specifically the FAA under Pete Buttigieg) gaslit everyone who pointed out this was de facto eminent domain (w no compensation) of protected wildlife habitat

Evangelist Whitney Lynn says she preaches on planes because she loves “a captive audience.” She's not alone. It's becoming a trend. If spreading your message requires listeners who can't escape, maybe it's not as compelling as you think. www.friendlyatheist.com/p/christian-...

Christian preachers are turning airplanes into unwanted worship services

Evangelists are exploiting captive audiences who can’t walk away—and broadcasting it online

bunch of absolute power tripping freaks. they can all see RIGHT into my yard from their back windows so i hope they are enjoying the view of my chickens, massively overgrown insane garden, stock tank hot tub, gigantic messy outdoor play area, and feral children
