I’m not morally opposed to the death penalty, I’m procedurally opposed to it for ordinary crimes because I don’t trust the American carceral state to fairly apply it. I think it’s necessary in cases of crimes against democracy, but even there I think the condemned deserve a quick merciful death.

At the core, anti trans ideology relies on defining women by their body parts, which is objectifying, degrading and dangerous for any woman who is different. And thats a lot more people than people realize.
One of the frequent failings of feminism is not recognizing intersectionality. It's on perfect display with the WNBA situation. Athletic women are often not traditionally feminine. Women of Color are often seen as not sufficiently feminine. These are all different parts of the same beast.
While there are many examples of voter cognitive dissonance, wanting wages to be higher and food to remain cheap is not one of them.

I really hate it when people compare the US to Rome, when we have far more in common with ancient Egypt, and not even the Old Kingdom. We're barely into the Early Dynastic Period. This is just the growing pains following the unification of the Upper and Lower Nile.

I can already see the stupid headlines and the stock market surging forward from when exports are halted until Europe's commercial inventories run out. At which point their economies will implode, triggering a mass sell off and global crash.
More likely it'll be just another tech that all aircraft must have as a baseline to compete, rather than an overhwelming advantage like the F-35 has over an Su-27.
We're never gonna get a left wing government ever again because this entire half our population is convinced they've already done the work and they don't need political awareness anymore. Like whatever let's keep running this asshole over and over, it's the others who are wrong.

56% of Americas lived in urban areas in 1932. Today it's between 80-85%.

I have no intrinsic problem with *living* people being honored--I think it was cool that Jimmy Carter lived long enough to see a nuclear submarine named in his honor--but honoring any sitting federal official is just flatly inappropriate and at odds with our democratic tradition.

Basically this. We can’t turn into MAGA and just assume everything is rigged, staged, stolen, etc. Let the investigation play out.

To be fair is the claim that it has never been shot down by another aircraft. But they lost F-15:s already in the gulf war.
In either case, this war ends with: 1.) Oil prices surging to around $200/barrel 2.) The collapse of the global economy. 3.) A global famine due to an oil and fertilizer supply shock. 4.) The biggest humanitarian crisis in living memory.
Bartending reads blue collar if the bartender reads male, pink color if they read female. 'Waitresses' and serve staff read pink collar, back of house staff read blue collar, and fancy waiters in tuxes at fancy restaurants are rare enough in the US that I suspect we aren't sure.

The funny part about all of this is that North America is oil cell sufficient. The price increases will be due to global— not domestic— supply contraction.
