Hey, this is that “study” that was previously cancelled after outcry at how monstrously unethical it was. It’s sentencing the poorest kids on earth to die of completely preventable liver cancer for white antivaxxers’ curiosity. How a medical doctor could co-sign this atrocity is beyond me.

It’s simply unimaginable that CDC Director Dr. Erica Schwartz has just bowed to RFK Jr. and approved funding for an utterly unethical clinical trial that will withhold the birth dose of HepB vaccine in Guinea Bissau. It is to be conducted by researchers accused of academic misconduct.

This is a disaster. The ethics committee in Denmark that approved the Guinea-Bissau study which will withhold the birth dose of HepB vaccine “had never considered medical studies before but it changed the rules in order to vote on this one”. Four members of the committee have resigned in protest.

I am used to plantar fasciitis attacking me first thing in the morning, but having it so bad I can’t sleep at night is new. Im nsaided up, both systemic and local. What else can I do?

This should be so obvious that it doesn’t need to be said, but given what kind of weekend it’s been on here, apparently it does: If you don’t want old rapists running the world, in office, in the board room, making decisions for all of us get comfortable with “ruining” young rapists’ lives

I actually don't think the Republican Senator mixed up "Hawks" and "Hawkeyes." Going by his own statements, it appears his staff saw he went to a basketball game on that date and googled basketball games and found the only men's game that night in the whole country was in Atlanta.

Outside Critters, I know you don't have blusky accounts, nor can you read, or even speak, but - please, stay off the enclosed porch! I've had encounters with both a carolina wren and mice today being where they don't belong.

There are already articles circulating trying to rewrite history and say America was great after 9/11 and united and thoughtful and just a reminder that that period was marked by intense and insanely racist hatred, paranoia, and a frothing desire for unhinged violence and oppression.

1/x On September 11, 2001 Coast Guard Lieutenant Michael Day, aboard the Sandy Hook pilot boat New York, keyed his radio: "All available boats. This is the United States Coast Guard. Anyone wanting to help with the evacuation of Lower Manhattan, report to Governors Island." #maritimehistory

All of this is separate from the SOCIAL CONSTRUCTION of race. Given that DNA ancestry services are less than 15 years old, our attitudes are not based on *genetic data*. But that fact again: There are no unshared, population-level genetic variations in humans. I'll leave you with Adam's essay:

'Biological reality': What genetics has taught us about race

As US President Donald Trump takes aim at the Smithsonian Institution for "anti-American ideology", Adam Rutherford examines what the science of genetics has taught us about race.

Someone ancestrally from Africa will have MORE ancestors contributing (probabilistically) to each DNA base inherited, but beyond ~10,000 years ago (the identical ancestors point), every human was either the ancestor of everyone alive, or left no surviving descendants. You & I (& Elon🙄) are cousins.

Humans Are All More Closely Related Than We Commonly Think

Humanity’s most recent common ancestor and so-called genetic isopoint illustrate the surprising connections among our family trees
