yep the attacks are going to do some damage they are not going to do enough damage to overcome D+10 or even really close

Once again my mutuals need to be reminded that they are in a bubble when comes to bluesky.
I can not get over the fact that my first expose to this woman is during the gamer gate era here.
Wow what the fuck
I only had to block 3 people in the replies, better than I expected
The replies to this are sociopathic. A young woman was stabbed to death in public! So many people on the internet have paper-thin politics that are just an excuse to create an out-group against whom violence is permitted; it’s a coin-flip whether the group is “professionals” or “immigrants”.
And now jorbs has...deleted every single post he's ever made on Bluesky rather than admit he was wrong. Amazing.
No other job works like this. If you said "As a teacher, I'm illiterate and therefore cannot comment on the quality of my students' essays," you would rightly be fired immediately.
It's so weird how "As Speaker of the House, I have no idea what's going on... Like, in general," is an effective way to deflect scandal rather than being a massive scandal in itself.
BREAKING -- Mike Johnson says he's unaware of major news developments
Genuinely I cannot take it. The way the press has ONE STANDARD for everyone but Trump and his goons and then A TOTALLY DIFFERENT STANDARD for them. It’s intolerable, it’s obscene
Also - the answer is yes. Yes, it's fucking fair. Because that's the definition of the job you signed up to do
"I have been asked by some retired officers if it is fair to expect a senior military leader to stand up to or refuse to accept an immoral, unethical or illegal order from the president or the secretary of defense... But fairness is irrelevant." www.nytimes.com/2026/09/01/o...
90 percent of the bad publicity around AI is directly and entirely the fault of AI promoters. It is not great that an extremely important and interesting technology has the worst people on earth shaping its direction.
Data centers aren't new but the concept of a data center that can exist in the real world near you is new to a lot of people because they used to go up with no more fanfare then a warehouse but now they announce them as "your town's chance to be part of the AI revolution" which is kinda an own goal
I'm all for inventive adaptations of classic works (of which, A Christmas Carol has many), but "why is Scrooge like he is" is something that the book itself actually fucking answers
The film, which stars Johnny Depp, will try to find the "gray area" in A Christmas Carol. www.avclub.com/scrooge-gray...
I take the middle path on data centers: We do need them, but they're light industrial and you don't want to put one in a neighborhood. They don't use infinite water, but you still should put them where there's an adequate existing water supply. They use electricity so we should mandate renewables.
Trump: "The only reason that communities should not want Data Centers is if they want to end up being backwards and poor. ... The good news is that there are plenty of other places that want them. If we kill the Golden Goose, you will only have yourselves to blame."
Will asked what issues Dems are to the right on compared to 10 years ago, and got this laundry list. The problem is literally every single item here is either factually backwards or completely misunderstands how politics works. Let’s walk through it:
-Trans rights -Netanyahu’s ambitions for a greater Israel -unwillingness to oppose Trump even marginally in the second term -backdoor meetings with Jared kushner for god only know what kind of nefarious misdeeds - police surveillance -environmental regulations especially concerning data centers
Criticizing Piker is not an anti-El Sayed ratfucking effort, bud. Hell, El-Sayed criticized Piker!
Just because it thinks in centuries, doesn't mean those are like, intelligent thoughts.
"China thinks in centuries." I have some questions about where exactly the Taiping Rebellion and the Great Leap Forward are in those plans.
So @wetrulyloveluigi.bsky.social is now detaching this post from people pointing out the actual facts of the situation. The logical conclusion is that he knows it's a blatant lie and is trying to cover up bsky.app/profile/wetr...
The 18yo kid did not get life imprisonment. HIS lawyers asserted he wasn't mentally competent to stand trial. The court agreed and sent him for treatment fo restore him to competency, which is the normal response He was found competent earlier this year and is awaiting trial now. The REASON (1/2)
I'd make it 15 by establishing two new circuits: An Administrative Circuit and an Immigration Circuit
It's worth noting that this isn't a random number but a goal that would simply restore the court to an earlier norm in which there's one justice for each of the judicial circuits. We used to have nine, we now have thirteen. The people defending the current setup have the tougher case to make here.
maybe the new CEO will realize apple should become a hardware company, start selling motherboards, and let them easily boot up linux
both OpenAI and Anthropic are using Mac Minis and Mac Studios for reinforcement learning Somehow Apple backed its way into being a key AI company?? www.theinformation.com/articles/app...
I don't know what's worse here, Piker comparing himself to trans athletes/migrants, or Ryan Grim the Professional Ratfucker jumping in to defend him. Oh, no, wait, it's Eoin Higgins purposefully eliminating the context. This, folks, is what some people want the Heart of the Democratic Party to be!
I do not have strong Neera Tanden feelings, but Grim brought up OBL first. Tanden was just replying to that, not doing bigoted free association. I can’t say I’m surprised people defending Ryan Grim and Hasan Piker would lie shamelessly like this, though.
Kind of surprised that we are not seeing more radical political ideas built around AI capabilities, the way that early mass industrialization was a prime motivator in the conceptions of capitalism, communism, and socialism.
Why is the context always "I actually agree with Piker's horrible take"?
Oh wow, jorbs has a bad political opinion you say
this is the right-wing argument against welfare with a silencer on it
it's really important to me to point out that in fact the medieval peasant did in fact run out of food, every year lots of them did starve, and less often but still often enough the peasantry in general ran out of food causing well known historic events
None of these people actually care about the millions dying from USAID ending. They find it hilarious, actually.
I think it's really neat how every time I point out that Piker traffics in antisemitic conspiracy theories, someone shows up to point out that it's not an antisemitic trope because he said the word "Israel" and not "Jews".
They’ll release the claim in ~25 days (meaning I’ll get the AdSense $ in late October) but in light of this horrible week and having already raised $75k for Imagination Library, I plan to donate the rest of the AdSense $ to the crisis in Nepal when it clears; I feel like it’s what Dolly would want.
