Four years ago today I tweeted a concept for a "Raccoon Heist" video game, product description generated by GPT-3 and concept "art" created by DALL-E Today I fed those assets into Fable 5 and had it build full working game, single shot prompt, no feedback from me simonwillison.net/2026/Aug/5/r...

I lose brain cells so you don't have to. Devops Galore. DemSoc liking anarchism. Antifascist. BLM/Abolish the Police. Views are mine, not employer’s. He/him
Only real heads will get this, but: The documents helpfully released today by John Solomon appear to indicate that the FBI never continued its counterintelligence investigation against Trump once Mueller was appointed www.whitehouse.gov/releases/202...
remember when the Flash entering the Speed Force in Zack Snyder’s Justice League won the academy award for the most cheerworthy cinematic moment of all time
But he is the progressive wing lol. He literally was a DSA member who does performative bs all the time & quit them because of the outright pro-Hamas rally before Israel even retaliated after 10/7. His opponent was endorsed by the CBC. Y’all gotta make up your minds with these dumb labels. 😂
teaching Claude to make a skill to get itself to do rhetorical analysis before making PowerPoints, it’s going really well but Claude absolutely called me an unethical sophist just like my students always did (“is audience adaptation REALLY just manipulation?”)
She’s right. Let’s elect el-Sayed so that we can make Chuck Schumer the most powerful man in the country I’m gonna go do what Kamala says and send Abdul $10
Meanwhile the first thing I saw when opening my email this morning:
Another comparator is that one medium data center consumes about as much water as 50 acres of alfalfa and Jesus Christ they gotta stop growing that in AZ that’s insane
Answer appears to be ~50% of the annual water consumption of an 18-hole golf course Which like isn’t nothing in the desert (where you want the data centers because evaporative cooling is so cheap) but also isn’t apocalyptic
say what you will about dem burrito taxi discourse but at least the Vice President of the United States wasn't poasting about it
for reasons that only make sense if you're insane, a TPUSA kid complaining about burrito costs on xitter has the GOP's biggest divas going for each other's throats.
This version of "Pokemon Snap" sucks
The Pokémon Company's former director of engineering at its Bellevue, Washington headquarters is now the subject of a class-action lawsuit, after the discovery of a hidden camera concealed in one of the building's bathrooms. https://bit.ly/4pY4qI9
I think I may have posted this before but I ended up using Claude to automate pulling down receipts for my monthly expense report because manually tracking them down was a PITA. This, not trying to replace artists, is the real kind of stuff LLMs are useful for.
this is going to end up banal but what a world it would have been if the people who YOLO'd consumer LLMs with the pitch "this can automate the boring shit you don't want to do" had a definition of "boring shit" that was "set up AWS creds" instead of "art, music, socializing, raising children"
This was the last primary generating discourse for this year, right? We're all done now?
Every single person in this administration is an utter embarassment
NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman on rockets crashing into the moon: "It's not a big deal right now. The moon has clearly seen better days."
VP Kamala Harris has endorsed Abdul El-Sayed with the conclusion of the primary & has sent out this joint fundraising email for him & her Fight for the People PAC. secure.actblue.com/donate/kdh-f...
holy shit -- Schiff ties Trump's judicial nominees in knots by asking them who won the 2016 before *before* asking them who won in 2020, which results in them sounding like election deniers about Trump's victories!
Love watching these guys like “yep Obama won, McCain and Romney lost, these are easy” without seeing where they’re *obviously* being led.

this rules actually, though? I have so many more hands than I ever had and can deputize moderate cleverness for nearly free
thinking about the nightmare future where AI *is* effective for knowledge work and that *doesn't* destroy all the jobs but but *does* turn every job in to purely managerial and strategy-alignment work because implementation becomes free
Won’t buy that they mean it until they run a third party candidate in every competitive senate race. Go ahead, do it, you cowards.
NEW A group of anti-Trump MAGA figures are prepping to run a third-party candidate for president in 2028. The name at the top of their list: Tucker Carlson www.wired.com/story/maga-i...
Just tell em you're excited to support AES cause you want Chuck to get a promotion
AES himself is focusing fire on Mike Rogers now and the actual leadership roles on the ground have pivoted to put themselves behind AES, and you still have folks acting like "Kneel or be purged!" It just seems like so much projection again, all things considered.
If El-Sayed loses the general it will be because he is beaten by Republicans and Independents in a very purple state. Moderate Dems don’t do what the left does — throw hissyfits and stay home. Theyll turn out. (And still get blamed if he loses.)
Very cute that leftists actually think "Withholding an endorsement when I lose because I'm just so mad and also afraid my supporters will stop giving me money if I'm seen as selling out" is a universal problem
Turns out us shitlibs don't have a problem with that! We're good at supporting the winner even when the winner isn't who we want!
