El-Sayed: We live in an era where we continue to see a few very small people try to define America as being as small as they are. We can't control the past 250 years. What we can do is build the next 250

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful
The "parts" of us we had to hide in order to feel accepted-- those are often the "parts" that hold the key to our healing now. That's not psychobabble bullsh*t-- that's how our nervous system responds when we're bullied & abused into self-abandonment again & again over years.

Speaking honestly about the dead is not the same thing as speaking ill of them. If it's hard to distinguish the difference, that's on them, not whoever is speaking. Where I draw the line personally (and this speaks only for me) is in not speaking gleefully or celebratorily about anyone's death.
If universities think AI is important and want to have some AI classes or even an AI major, fine whatever. But AI is directly antithetical to the point of a college education - independent, creative thought. To fully embrace it, as colleges have, is to abandon the purpose of postsecondary education.

social media that's bad for minors is obviously bad for adults too. crazy to me that the move seems to be to just accept that and ban minors rather than regulate the obvious design patterns that were put in there on purpose which make it harmful to its users
Honestly incredible stuff but this made me gasp: "For $100 million a year we can get clean oceans,” he said. This is less than the annual marketing budget of most major consumer goods companies that produce the plastic The Ocean Cleanup is pulling from the sea. techfixated.com/young-invent...

Just makin' it clear for your asses. Erasing the voices of black and brown people is not "agree to disagree" territory.
The way the outfits here create flashes of blue and white is very mesmerizing.
When radioactivity was discovered, there was a rush to market for all sorts of radioactive consumer goods. There were water jugs made out of uranium glass, for example. I think about that a lot these days whenever I see AI products being marketed to consumers.
