El- Sayed: "Here‘s the thing about it – no matter who you are, how you love, how you pray, how you identify, it just should not be this hard... Shouldn‘t be this hard to keep our money here. Spend it on roads and bridges here, build our schools here, provide healthcare here. Shouldn‘t be this hard"

I'll just point out once more: the Republican case to voters, today and for the last 50 years or so, relies on lies & falsehoods. If you could snap your fingers and force everyone to speak only the truth, Republicans would never win a national majority again. The lies are central & load-bearing.

Trump: "They want to cut your children. It's unbelievable what they do. Your son leaves as Jimmy and comes home in three days as Janet, and they don't even ask you. They can take your child out of school and do whatever the hell they want. Minnesota is one of those states."

If you can't see a direct line from frat culture to ICE, DOGE and the gleeful violation of consent in various tech, sport & finance circles, I don't know what to tell you.

Imagine being a man in 2026, and your big, once-in-a-generation fight is that women won’t date you, immigrants are more skilled than you, and Netflix race-swapped your favourite cartoon character.

One of the worst parts of being a creator, especially a trans one, is watching disinformation about you spread from bad actors to other folks like a bad game of telephone so you see people literally judge you on shit you never said/did or is completely opposite to the point you were making.

In other words, what Trump is doing threatens exactly the sort of tyranny that basically *everyone* associated with the Founding tried to prevent by giving Congress the power of the purse. Even if you're not an originalist (I'm not), you should care about this, because the threat is serious today.

And that’s not including the truly batshit ones who occasionally make it through, like Marx in Colorado. Weed out all of the “RINO’s” you claim to hate, and the only people who end up making it through the primaries are wading even deeper into the crazy pool.

It's really remarkable how in race after race, Republicans are saddled with the worst candidates imaginable - Paxton, Whatley, Husted, Rogers, Marshall, Moody, M. Collins, Graham... Some of them may win, but my god what a collection of losers, crooks, and dumbasses

There’s this weird political tic (and everyone from centrist Dems to progressives to people on the far left do it) where people desperately want fascists and neo-nazis to turn into good guys, and will preemptively attempt to rehabilitate fascists who haven’t changed at all.

Holy shit, am I tired of the people who clap like seals whenever fascist Marjorie Taylor Greene pretends to give a shit about doing the right thing.

Virtue signaling is good*, actually, because it signals an endorsement of virtues. Given the tremendous right-wing effort to signal and perform vice (televised executions, racist politicized raids, denigration of empathy, etc.) turns out we cannot actually take "lip service to virtue" for granted.

Yes, of course McDonald’s posting about National Coming Out Day is “performative.” Nobody thinks Ronald McDonald threw the first brick at Stonewall. Nonetheless, the biggest and most influential institutions in American life performing affirmation of LGBT social and civil equality is a good thing.

for as long as i've been alive, republicans have ran the same playbook: a few weeks before voting begins, they roll out completely fabricated smear campaigns. these things are always coordinated, so the talking points take over the news. the party is never electorally punished for their dishonesty.

The thing about Gillis's monologue isn't just that it's misogynistic; it's that it's misogynistic in the most unoriginal, dated, cringe-ily 1982 would-be Andrew Dice Clay way. Like, wow slut shaming women in workout clothes, where'd you dig that fossil up

the beggars out of here getter@milesklee.bsky.social · 4d ago

they had SNL on mute at a bar Mads and i were in and during Gillis’ monologue she was like “you can just SEE him not being funny”

I’m ok. Make no mistake: this is an attempt to target political enemies and weaponize federal law enforcement. For ten years, Trump has targeted me with baseless lies and smear campaigns. This is just the latest escalation in his campaign of political intimidation. I will not be silenced.

It's still a struggle to get people to envision the struggle for trans rights in terms of bodily autonomy, in terms of sex being a mutable characteristic that we have a right to alter without intervention or censure. It was a perfect wedge issue because cis people's discomfort went unchallenged.

it remains funny to me that people believe in things like the Illuminati and the Freemasons and whatnot when it is so obvious the world is run by the drunkest C-student frat boys who could legacy their way into the ancestral mid-tier business schools where they spawn

The FBI wants to hire the Ultimate Fighting Championship to train its special agents under a one-year deal that would bypass the competitive bidding process typically used for federal contracts, according to federal records.
