I mean, nukes or not we’re heading to this future where we’ve lost so much knowledge. Our corporations make Vault Tech look like Amnesty International.
This is obvious to anyone who has ever dealt with a hangry male
🤯TIL: Women don't break down nearly as much as men during the Ranger Training Course. They experience fewer physical, hormonal, and mental breakdowns as a result of the mutli-environment stressors than men. Even for me, Mr. "Estrogen is a Performance Enhancing Drug!" guy, this is surprising.
Can someone please tell me what they put on hotel mirrors to make squares that are completely not covered in condensation, and why that stuff is not on my snowboarding goggles?
This is an incredibly insightful thread
That basic problem -- the problem of the information environment, which I've banged on about for 20+ years now -- is upstream of *everything* else. There's no simple fix. It's certainly not going to be fixed with clever word choice or policy proposals. You have to shift the deep mythologies.
Turns out that food companies were only checking their food because the government told them to, which is exactly why we need government regulations.
Impossible to put into words how useless Gmail search is. No wait, these guys did it!
Watching World Cup final in 2026 is like voting in 2020 - not so much for the team you like but against the team that’s horribly corrupt
This is my favorite thing I've written for @mcsweeneys.net in a while. Hope you folks enjoy it! I think the headline pretty much clears up what it's about.

Kids today must be the most well-rested generation in history, because I was up till 3am scrambling to skim the reading, changing the margins and upping the font by .2 just to get those 10 pages done by morning.
Kids today have lost the fine art of bullshitting a 10 page paper from a single Funk & Wagnalls entry or from reading only the CliffsNotes. 🤣
I haven’t seen so many ineffective crosses in Mexico since Hernán Cortés couldn’t convert the Aztecs in 1519
my hot take is that this is the actual america 250. just a ton of different people coming together, showing people what makes America weird and fun. people being welcoming. and yeah there’s some bullshit too, which is also very true to America! but the good and community far outweighs it rn.
This should absolutely be a red card-worthy offense

Between music festivals and tech conferences, I just realized that I’ve spent a non-trivial amount of time with branded lanyards around my neck
This is basically a Democratic campaign ad. Air it as is with no changes.
Johnson: If we lose the midterms, these Democrats will turn every committee of Congress into an investigative body, and they'll go after the president's family, the cabinet, his donors, friends, half of you in this room will be targeted. I run the protection program. We’ll take care of you.
can’t believe a narcissist is being so publicly humiliated by a reflecting pool
Current 40-somethings are paying off debt and trying to romanticize tiny homes and vintage IKEA. No wonder they're fed up!
Basically; the current 40-something reliables are like "What the fuck has your way of thinking done for us ever, let alone lately?"
good to see this. Musk is clearly getting visibly angry at the rising awareness of how many hundreds of thousands of people his DOGE wilding spree has already killed, millions more if this stays in place into the future. Everyone can participate in spreading the word about all the blood on his hands
WATCH: Chris Hayes looks at how Elon Musk’s assault on USAID became one of DOGE’s most devastating legacies—and why Musk is now trying to rewrite the record.

We are a pitiful nation led by inferiority complexes with deep pockets.
This morning scrolling Bluesky, there is nothing at all in my feed about Putin’s barbaric attack on the Ukraine’s holiest site, the UNESCO protected Lavra so I’m posting this here.
A society with one trillionaire and millions of people in poverty is something to be deeply ashamed of, actually
