If the bar serves an Assadist its an Assadist bar, but if the bar is owned by the Saudi sovereign wealth fund and a Filipino slave is behind the bar serving Benjamin Netanyahu and Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo Musa (they're kissing) its a Centrist bar

There is a problem with the stories we tell & the way we perceive how change happens. The Union of Pinnacle Tenants, the largest tenant-led union in NYC—are the reason Mamdani took action. Organized people power is pivotal. Top down stories of elected heroes (even ones we like) are not sufficient.
In January, Zohran Mamdani took action against bankrupt landlord Pinnacle, which was responsible for over 5,000 housing violations. Thanks to his intervention, Pinnacle's new owners have forgiven millions in tenants' back rent. This is what governing for the people looks like.
Happy Pride to this Caravaggio self-portrait that made one man so gay he had to go to the hospital

4/ It’s time for the countries of the world to rally and stop this impunity before it takes another sovereign country into chaos. We have to come to Cuba's aid. What's happening is too cruel, too horrible.
3/ We need to help Cuba right now, even if it bothers Trump: Canada should send immediate humanitarian fuel aid, in as much quantity as we can quickly assemble. And we should be speaking out loudly on the international stage: US military action against Cuba is absolutely unacceptable!
2/ It’s a blatant violation of international law, a crime in progress. Canadians are connected to Cuba: we’ve been welcomed, had great holidays, heard incredible music, done business and made friends.
1/ Cuba is out of fuel, strangled by the US fuel chokehold. People are dying, systems are breaking down. This is collective punishment against a people who have done absolutely nothing except live their lives under hard conditions imposed by the US blockade for decades.
god help us, we will see america lying broken and defeated, under occupation by the forces of an international coalition, before 2050
a very funny bluesky tendency is adamant defense of democracy paired with dripping disdain for voters
Commenting “this is AI” on any baby announcements I see on social.
This 1952 memo from the Pentagon UFO files is superb There is no point preparing for aliens ‘because no one of consequence is going to take this rubbish seriously unless it happens. At that point, our policy will be determined in the traditional manner of grand panic.’ 🤣 www.war.gov/medialink/uf...
AI psychosis is just “I really think the stripper likes me” for guys who don’t leave their house
In totally unsurprising news, Richard Dawkins is developing AI psychosis. Paywall bypass: archive.is/6RdK9
trying to play peekaboo with my child but he's a European diplomat: me: where'd daddy go? baby: we must articulate a post-daddy vision of strategic autonomy me: peekaboo! baby: my historic relationship with my father is stable despite recent troubles
My actual take on these NYT ‘here’s some morons’ things is that people are basically calling out for mediating insitutions to make politics comprehensible to them, because most people are not weird freaks like you probably are if you’re reading this, that like paying attention to this shit.
Me: I voted for Donald Trump because I had him confused with that other guy. Donald Duck. NYT reporter: Are you sure you want me to print that next to your real name and a drawing of you? Me: Yes.
Since we're having "low info voters are dumb" again, I'm gonna point out that this is why triangulation is dumb. Trying to win by changing your values to cover the opinions of as many people as possible will lead you to adopt some deeply stupid things because the "persuadable" voter isn't coherent!
You're right, shooting you with a gun goes against the explicit instructions defined in my system prompt. I should have explored other options before deciding to use a gun to shoot you. "Don't shoot me with a gun" is rule number one in my operating instructions. I made a mistake, and that's on me.
