I think I missed the preorder window for Cat’s book, but the rockstar/band metaphor on the TOC chapter titles resonates with something I’ve tried to communicate with my leaders, a bunch of old dudes who love warrior/military metaphor for motivating our teams. It’s a performance not a war.

the implications for SaaS businesses, IMO, depend on how much their value is just software versus how much is offloading liability, operations, process, compliance, etc. put more simply, if your only moat is software, that's a problem. IME, however, that's not most SaaS businesses.

It seems the SaaSpocalypse isn't a myth after all. Starbucks is planning to reduce their $400M in software costs by vibe coding replacements for software from Microsoft and IBM used for tracking inventory and managing equipment maintenance. I'm curious, if they can pull this off and start a trend.
