I love cities, land use policy, transport issues, bikes, model trains, crows, and nerd stuff.

he's a video game streamer turned pundit whose takes are informed by a warmed over millennial understanding of Chomskyist campism. this makes him more directionally correct than like 80% of federal dem electeds older than 50 and 100% of the MSM, but it also means he's really stupid

I think my most genuinely unpopular take is that a widely held and genuine consumer preference for cheaper, lower-quality goods, not private equity, is driving the decline in quality of consumer goods like clothing and housewares.

Rich urbanites need to allow apartments to be built near them to lower rents and they need to allow themselves to be taxed more to fund services and housing if they want to eliminate homelessness. Both involve sharing (money/space/amenities), which the rich urbanite is loathe to do.

This is the exact problem, right here: people would rather make up a social justice warrior to get mad at than take a hard, honest look at the problem.

whenever someone tells you that it's simply impossible for police to be charged with misconduct or criminal charges, you can tell they're wrong because some cops do get charged regularly — when they are whistleblowers or reformers prosecutors are actually extremely eager to help drum them out!

Prosecutors charged an LAPD officer with felony eavesdropping for making secret recordings of his colleagues’ racist, sexist and homophobic comments on the job

I work at a public library. People who want to use AI seem to have no trouble doing so. People who don't want to use AI have a harder time. I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful

An aircraft passenger oxygen mask: a drop down passenger mask with air bag and yellow plastic mouth and nose cover, oxygen tube has been cut; Demonstration model used by flight attendant crew for passenger instruction. Has text on the side indicating that it's non-functional.

Good-faith concern on this issue would be going, "hmm, professional sports leagues should probably have some standards in place to ensure trans competitors aren't getting an unfair advantage," googling for 5 minutes, realizing every sports league already has those standards and dropping it.

i don't believe anyone has "good-faith" concerns about trans women in sports in 2026. there's been too much time to hear the actual evidence, the actual people affected, and the role the debate plays in attempts to purge trans people from American life. anybody picking that side has made a choice

Noise pollution has more and more research proving it to be far more damaging and dangerous than previously thought. As someone very sensitive to noise I think we need to take it far more seriously and force the sources to mitigate their pollution or move to places where it wont hurt people

having cast skepticism over claims of "infrasound" from data centers: *actual* noise pollution, the kind you can hear, is extremely bad. both a directly annoying nuisance and one that has scientifically proven negative health impacts.

People didn't consume fresh produce because they didn't want to, access barely mattered to consumption habits by income. Grocery stores in poor areas basically subsidized the fresh produce they did carry by selling soda, tobacco and processed food at high markups.

dear god, hearing the way some people have just completely integrating AI shit into their everyday lives is so sad and embarrassing and alienating. you motherfuckers have me on the verge of believing in the existence of the human soul. awful

Approximately 1 out of 3 women will experience sexual and/or physical abuse in their lifetime and you still have men claiming that allegations must be false because there are too many of them. It’s actually the opposite. The vast majority allegations will never become public
