My secret, Cap, is that I'm *always* angry about old books. For instance, here's a tiny slice of the millions of books 1931-1986 that have no commercial value, that are digitized, but that we're unable to use in large-scale research because they are illegal to share or display.

For the next "ways in which things have gotten worse intergenerationally" post, this looks like a much better stat to use than housing prices. It needs to be at 1 for everyone to be happy. It was at 0.95 in 2000, and is at 0.86 now.

You know, building public transportation networks, high-speed rail, installing bike lanes, and offering tax credits and point-of-sale rebates for e-bikes and other small EVs would go at least some way toward making sure no one ever has to be held hostage by petrostates and maniacal authoritarians.

Passkeys can be stored just like password hashes! I'm proposing an interoperable $webauthn$v=1$… format, and a Go API that uses these passkey records for authentication. I'm looking for feedback before proposing this as crypto/passkey for Go 1.28!

Banning open-weight Chinese AI models would be dumb on so many levels. The rest of the world would still have access to Chinese models capable of attacking U.S. businesses.
There are no frontier open weights models that are not made in China, and there is no incentive in the US, nor appetite in the EU, to build one - it is a lot of cost, very little value capture (There are solid mid-level models, of course, but nothing close to a Kimi K3 or a GLM-5.2)
I bike here a lot, before they put up this barrier there were movable planters that kept getting hit and blocking the bike lane. This entire bridge is guarded by two stop signs on either end. To miss this you have to be breaking the law lol
