Why on earth does this BBC piece on Burnham telling an interviewer the UK security services confirmed Russian interference in the Brexit referendum require a response from a pro Brexit pressure group? It's literally our Prime Minister telling us about election security. It's nothing to do with them.

The prime minister told The Rest is Politics podcast that upon arriving in No 10, he had asked about possible Russian interference in the 2016 vote, adding: "I've had the clear answer that, yes, there was."

"I think we've been too much on the back foot on that actually and we haven't informed people sufficiently about the extent to which people are seeking to disrupt the political process from overseas," he added.

Burnham did not provide further details about the type or extent of Moscow's activity during the Brexit referendum.

Britain Unbound, a pro-Brexit campaign group, said Burnham's comments were "another crude attempt to undermine the legitimacy of the decision that the British people made in 2016".

It said that foreign interference in UK elections was "obviously unacceptable" but added: "There is no good reason to believe that Russian intervention influenced the outcome of the referendum in 2016.

The main lesson from Leuven is that cities don't necessarily need more road capacity to improve accessibility. Sometimes, they need to change who gets to use their streets, and for what purpose. After all, making a city easier to move through does not have to mean making it easier to drive through.🔚

Shetland Day 7: A quieter day with fewer thrushes (though still 1000+ Redwing, many Blackbird & 1 Ring Ouzel at dusk) & only Olive-backed Pipit remaining of the rarities. Still much to enjoy, including finding a late Pied Flycatcher at the top of Ward Hill, 2 Mealy Redpolls & a couple of Jack Snipe

We felt like we'd won the commissioned care lottery this morning. Two carers arrived, on time, to take my disabled teen daughter out. Only one new one! The other, she knew and liked. Unfortunately, said carer then told us it was her last day with the agency. Sad, but we've had so many leave.

Shetland day 6: No question about bird of the day on Fair Isle, with rain at dawn sparking a big fall of thrushes, dominated by Redwing. All-island total around 12000 - huge groups of 500+ swirling around, also good numbers of Song T, Fieldfare & Blackb. Two YBWs and hrd only Olive-backed Pipit too.

This a million times. People of colour being dragged on to debate maniacs about imaginary labels & race science is an abomination. proper ‘how German are you’ Nazi shit Note that people like me with white migrant parentage never asked to defend our identity Englishness. Is. A. Made. Up. Thing

Dear tv and radio producers. Thankyou for the invitation. But, no, I do not want to appear on your show to defend the idea that I am English, after 50 years of living and working here, because the increasingly feral right want to turn this into a "debate" and you cannot see how you're being played

Simply read this summary on what is driving the increased prevalence of mental health distress from the long awaiting final independent report into teenage mental health. Now compare it to the public discussion on mental health which basically comes down to social media and over-diagnosis.

The rise in mental distress among children and young people has unfolded alongside profound changes in the conditions of childhood. No single cause explains it. Family life, education, communities, digital environments and economic security all influence whether children feel safe and connected, have time to recover, can participate in everyday life and can look to the future with confidence.

Among the possible drivers, digital environments and educational pressures show the closest correspondence with the timing and pattern of rising distress. Neither is likely to be the principal cause. The evidence indicates that these environments have become more significant contributors than for previous generations, interacting with family circumstances, economic insecurity and existing vulnerability rather than operating alone. Continuous comparison and visible evaluation, disrupted sleep, reduced opportunities for belonging and recovery, and growing uncertainty may reinforce one another.

The strongest protective factors for mental health are supportive parenting relationships, positive educational experiences, and community participation and belonging. The pandemic, economic insecurity, pressures on families and the decline of community infrastructure do not explain the trend on their own, but they have intensified pressures and weakened sources of protection. These effects are not evenly distributed. Children experiencing poverty, discrimination, SEND, care experience or family stress often bear the greatest burden.

Prevention cannot rest solely on helping children cope with environments that place growing demands on them. It also requires action to improve those environments: more inclusive schools; protected time for rest, play and belonging; stronger community infrastructure; reduced poverty and insecurity; practical support for parents and carers; and enforceable duties on digital platforms to protect children while preserving the connection and support they can pro…

Baffling that the Guardian has on its front page a headline then discredited by the contents of the article itself. No real evidence that parents of children with SEND are ‘rushing’ to get support ahead of government changes. The system is as slow as ever. www.theguardian.com/education/20...

So much talk about parents 'rushing' to get ECHP's & diagnoses. Both take enormous amounts of time & stress. No one's doing that for fun. People do it because they've exhausted other routes to get help for their kids. It'd be excellent if kids got real support... www.theguardian.com/education/20...

Oh blimey, here we go again. Time to vote in the National Trust AGM to keep so-called 'Restore Trust' off the council. Use the quick vote to ensure we don't split the anti-Restore vote. Or.... 1/2 www.nationaltrust.org.uk/who-we-are/a...

My GP recommends swimming for my back. I want to go. There are 2 communal changing rooms. Labour say I should use the mens. I am a visibly female woman with a GRC. If I use the mens there's a serious risk of me being confronted and worse. So where do I go? I don't. I'm segregated from society.

How many of us would be willing to leave our principles at the door and enforce a school's (probably) unreasonable attendance policy, as long as the salary exceeds £3 million a year? As seen on TES jobs 😂

An advert for a school Operations and Attendance Officer, with a salary range starting at £3,615,400 a year. Presumably a typo.
