It sounds crazy now, but in the near future it'll be cheaper long term to put solar on your roof and sodium-based batteries in your home and just disconnect from the grid. Much like the fast-dying gas industry in NZ, the grid is simply not designed for it and it'll result in a runaway effect. Soon.
