Joel S.@joelhs.bsky.social · 21m agoBen Shapiro probably does not know enough history to even know this, but the way he is talking about Muslims as a nation within the nation who can never be integrated is almost verbatim what European nationalists said about Jews in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Antisemitism is simultaneously entirely to do with the hatred of Jewish people but also, bizarrely, doesn't need to actually be targeted against Jews per se-the target of the antisemite *becomes* the "Jew" by some strange process which I don't really think has any parallels with other bigotries.
Antisemitism, because it involves creating an entirely fictional person(s) to hate in the form of the mythical "Semite" can easily evolve so that Muslims are, in fact, the hated "Jew". Which is how you end up with actual Jewish people doing antisemitism. Yes it's very strange and dumb.

As a left wing progressive who would like to see left wing progressives continue to win Democratic primaries, perhaps we could find it in ourselves to try and be good winners. There is no need to say VBNMW with a sneer. We can just smile and say "I feel optimistic about the direction of the party."
The libs are still the kingmakers here, and will remain so for the foreseeable. Evelyn Normielib is now open to socialism, we can't afford to close that door by being interpersonally unpleasant. The United States has binding partisan primaries, we just need to convince normie voters.

Did I get the night I wanted? No I never want to spend hours waiting on Wayne County to count votes. Did I get the results I wanted? Absolutely, there was Abdul El-Sayed, Will Lawrence, Donovan McKinney federally, along with a ton of statehouse wins including Abbas Alawieh and Chris Gilmer-Hill.

A question in the back of my mind is exactly how catastrophic does November have to be to get Republicans to repudiate Trump and moderate? What threshold do we need to cross for this to be considered not just a repeat of 2018 or even 2006, but 1932?
Abdul has got a strong message though; “We weren’t handed this nomination. We worked our asses off for it and beat $80 million in outside spending. Now it’s time for us to do the same in November”
I genuinely didn’t expect… white rural Democrats… to be the main reason this race was a nail biter but yeah, we’ve got our work cut out for us in November. Abdul’s people need to really kiss Stevens’ ass and make nice with the MI Dems or they are def gonna lose in November.

Yes, this counters the centrist argument that Black voters—the base of the Democratic party—are immovably moderate and will reject progressive candidates.

I hope the El-Sayed scare light a fire under national progressives’ asses to lock the fuck in for Flanagan, Hong, and Markey Congress is about to go on recess, Bernie/AOC/Warren better be camping out in Minnesota Wisconsin and Massachusetts for the next month
