It’s only 8 AM and I’m already tired of takes blaming voters for going out and stating their preferences in a primary election. Getting mad at voters, hundreds of thousands of them, for voting for who they wanted and not who you think was “savvy” is foolish.
I had to stop using Google and switch to Kagi so yes I would manage, though I will freely admit that I get a ton of value out of not having to translate my interior monologue into search strings

Its consumerist thinking rather than civic thinking. You arent at the store, you are fulfilling your responsibility to help choose who will represent you in government.

this one's funny bc i think it's rooted in a similar impulse to the data center backlash, but unlike that one (we do need SOME data centers, not for AI but for lots of stuff everyone likes) it's purely arrogance and hubris to crash stuff into the moon. we don't need to be doing that ever

1. the whole "disappointing night" thing is pure cope. El-Sayed beat the establishment candidate despite being outspent 10:1, that's an earthquake 2. primary polls are just not great and everyone needs to spend the next week going really, really hard for Peggy Flanagan

this isn't very popular to say, but for me personally, it was good that i had unrestricted internet access when i was a minor. i was aware of what i was doing and enjoyed it. i don't look back on it and go "well that was a mistake", i look back on it and wish i could do it for the first time again
