I do wonder if half the challenges we now see in schools come from the fact we talk about knowledge as something to acquire or transfer...rather than something which we form as individuals and communities..... and back to work
This is a great history of cognitive load theory and points to both its usefulness and limitations. My conclusion is that, given its limitations, it should not be the primary focus of something with the label "science of learning."

I've often thought of the segregation effect of GATE programs as a feature (at least from white parents' perspective), and the answer seems to be to open up the programs, welcome more students, and avoid separating them from their peers.

I was covering education at a previous job during the height of the MOOC boom and it was basically the AI mania in miniature: a management class absolutely frothing at the mouth at the promise that technology would allow them to fire all those pesky workers (teachers).

My 2 kids are on a San Francisco bus adventure dreamed up a few weeks ago. No plan, no phone, just hopping on buses to unplanned stops and finding another bus route to head in a different direction.
