2. But now the "let's make everything AI" is pushing the tool designers to turn the design process into something much more like coding, drearily simplistic, which is a terrible idea and kills the intuition, insight, and complexity of a physics-based approach. They are fucking a whole industry.
1. A really shitful going on in the world of trying to AI-ify everything: I work with a bunch of software tools to design physical things, and over time the tools have evolved to allow you to thing about the physics of what's going on fairly well, which is good.

If students are simply uninterested in the core bargain of a class like this, it’s hard to know what to do. You teach the material because you think it’s important they know it; they don’t give a shit, but want the credential; and the university wants their money. Your main option is “pretend”.
