this country will not be transformed without addressing policing, prisons, surveillance and militarism. Sorry. Cannot get around it. The carceral socialists may make incremental progress but they will ALWAYS come up against state violence.

I think it's closer to the truth that LLMs *can* save time on *some tasks* which can be valuable *if* you monitor them and check their output. But that doesn't get you a trillion dollars so they have to squint into the middle distance and say stupid sci fi bullshit instead

The editorial board of the Philadelphia @inquirer.com becomes the first at a major newspaper to endorse (sorta) Trump's impeachment. share.inquirer.com/BnINC5 "A clear and present danger to the republic... the case against Trump is strong... the time has come to again contemplate his impeachment."

The Case for Impeachment: What would the founders do? | Editorial

The list of the president’s high crimes and misdemeanors is breathtaking.

Ads for AI in the workplace are like “use AI to help do your job and get ahead” as if the industry and the expectations won’t change based on the prevalence of AI. It’s not a life hack if it’s upending everything. You’re not setting yourself apart by relying on AI, you’re rendering yourself obsolete

Incredible how the editors at @nytimes.com still don't understand how embarrassing it is to do this, and how it undermines the credibility of the paper and its journalists. It's like a toddler covering their face to play hide and seek. We see you but it's not cute, you look like an asshole.

There are new and specific numbers in this story, so it’s worth reading. I continue to resent the lack of credit to Nick Schwellenbach at @pogo.org, Dan Friedman at @motherjones.com, and me, who have previously reported every other aspect of this story, including that the sale prices were very high.

Left
The Homeland Security Department signed a multi-million dollar agreement to buy five aircraft from a company owned by a political contributor of the secretary on her last day, documents show.

This is a better epilogue to my January story about the private equity firm profiting off of ICE's cruelest flights than I could have ever possibly hoped for. CHICAGO: You went to the mat and protected (at a minimum!) thousands of immigrants from torture. Take a bow. prospect.org/2026/10/02/i...

In Chicago, progressive alderpeople held up a contract until a private equity firm was forced to dispatch Omni Air International, protecting thousands of immigrants from deportation.

there are many reasons to oppose the death penalty, and here is merely one of them: it is harder to kill a person on purpose than you think, and it will *always* be cruel, barbarous, and messy. a lethal injection is not more civilized than the rope, the guillotine, the chair, or the firing squad

“if she survived shouldn’t she be able to go free??“ states have been devising different ways to formally kill people for thousands of years, and every single one of them routinely fails. every angle to this argument has not only already happened, but your direct ancestors were prolly involved in it

10/ Publications are businesses. They have no right to your money. And you have no right to their reporting. It’s all a matter of business models that create a mutual interest in working together. It’s understandable ( based on the history above ) but still silly to think that it’s an offense …
