Today at work, I got a free zine: George Jackson Speaking: From Dachau, Soledad Prison, California. It’s a piece by Jackson, “smuggled out on roll-your-own cigarette paper at great risk to the prison’s one sympathetic guard” and originally published in the Village Voice, Sept 1970. #abolition #zines
it's not a self-help book, but it is pretty opinionated. The Politics of Lonely: Why is Friendship So Hard? is officially out today! bookshop.org/p/books/the-...
You know what I'd like? I'd like cis Democrats to say "thank you." "Thank you for being the moral center of our movement." "Thank you for refusing to go quietly." "Thank you for fighting ICE. Thank you for forming coalitions with other communities under threat."
There are 25.6 million LGBTQ+ adults in the US including roughly 5 million gender diverse folks. We are real voters. We're also real people. And we deserve candidates, campaigns, and parties that treat us as such - not as disposable talking points. We can help you win. And we will. Stand with us.
Happy 60th anniversary to the brilliant universe of Star Trek, and all who made it possible. Live long and prosper. 🖖
📣 Brand new zine published to celebrate Labor Day: "Don’t Cross the Picket Line : Strike Solidarity for Beginners." Free to print or read online at violetbfox.info/dontcross/. This 24-page zine was created for anyone who's *not* part of a union and doesn't know much about unions or strikes.

The Library of Congress can move quickly when it wants to classweb.org/tentative-su.... This is from the September tentative LCSH list. They moved swiftly to overwrite Denali and the Gulf of America, too. So much for librarians being freedom fighters. 📚

Today's reason for loving the late Dolly Parton. @charliejane.bsky.social @annaleen.bsky.social @transgenderreport.com www.them.us/entertainmen...
Dolly Parton’s Chauffeur and Assistant of 30+ Years Was a Trans Man She Supported and Loved
Parton repeatedly thanked Jason Pirro — whose employment was widely celebrated by trans newsletters — throughout her career.

New Recording Available! Des Alaniz, @violetbfox.bsky.social & @salem-zine-witch.bsky.social talk about #zines, #librarianship and the overlap of the two. (Also: plenty of tee-shirt slogan ideas and creative chicanery) libraryjuiceconnections.org/events/zines...
Tim Curry and Dolly Parton have taught us not only that you should be bigger, weirder, gayer, and freakier, but also that those qualities are what people will love about you. The things that make you strange and amazing are the things that will resonate with other strange and amazing people
Dolly Parton knew what it was like to struggle as she fought for working families her whole career. From providing free books to kids to giving working women our "9 to 5" anthem, she was an icon and an inspiration. Rest in power to our union sister. We will always love you.
If you are under the age of 80 this is your first day living in a world without Dolly Parton. Behave accordingly, she's counting on us now
Saw this about ten years ago on the Internet and saved it because it is so lovely. Seems fitting to share today in the global outpouring of love for Dolly Parton. 💗
Minnesota doesn’t have an event to celebrate Black booksellers and authors, owner of Black Garnet Books Terresa Hardaway thought while attending a monthly Black Bookstore Coalition meeting. So she launched and curated the first Midwest Black Book Fair to honor stories of resistance and Blackness.
Inaugural Midwest Black Book Fair will debut in north Minneapolis
Bookstores, publishers, authors and local organizations will be present for the fair. Tickets are free with registration.

Also love some zines with swear words in the title would advise readers “do not put (swear word) on the envelope please!”
Always interested in seeing the zine etiquette tips in zines, like this handwritten reminder "always send well-concealed cash & use legible writing" on a page of zine reviews in issue 18 of Bitchfield, published in 1996.
I am launching a Black Collectors in the 21st Century Zine Series. Here is the call for submissions. Deadline is January 31, 2027 - app.smore.com/n/8vry4
