In light of some magazines pulling scummy things on creators lately, I’m doing a little thread on short story rights. I don't want anybody getting taken advantage of. Also, if you're new, this stuff can be confusing!

The Liberals and Conservatives teamed up again today — funny how that keeps happening — to get Bill C-39 over the hurdle of its first vote. The massive, 243-page bill bulldozes environmental protections, Indigenous rights and attacks the right to strike. Here's what this means:

Not to take away from celebrating Carson, but she's a "former professor" here in large part because the university shut down her department and cancelled its classes. What pride does the institution claim now—years later—when austerity is forcing other scholars out? What does that 'pride' do?

I keep telling people that even Newfoundland’s Progressive Conservative government has sent multiple letters to the federal Liberals asking to get a pharmacare deal because some other provinces have them, and Carney’s government will not do it.
