It's interesting that I see all of this in one job. I write, teach, analyse data, develop small tools, ... The bifurcation is real. I can now teach research students to run fairly complex data simulations in 12 weeks but at the same time I need to check all their reference lists.

was discussing with a fellow traveler today -- but programmers, coders, developers are having an *entirely* different experience of LLM-based products and services than the rest of us, especially the plagiarized plebeians among us (writers, reporters).

this is very cool, a lot of fun to read - and one of the many takeaways from it is that Homer is already sort of "non-canon" vis-a-vis previous Greek religious practice, as is a lot of what i'd call the "D'Aulaire's model" of "Greek mythology" that we've gotten in the modern west
