Her work was key to a landmark experiment. She was credited in a footnote.
Mary Tsingou Menzel, who has died at 97, played a central role in a Los Alamos physics experiment. A half-century later, she finally got her due.

I’ve been slowly accumulating older, secondhand field guides and DK Eyewitness books each paycheck, and my favorites are definitely the reptile ones because I like to hold up their entry to the anoles who sit near me on the porch and go “sir, do you know this man?”
