This is something I now hear regularly from almost all my trans friends. The tension between wanting to stay but not feeling safe. The tension between fleeing or fighting. The “what if where I go becomes just as bad?” It’s utterly shameful that law-abiding people feel they’re being forced out.

I know it’s an old and hackneyed point but I always go back to it. Suffragettes fought *against* the notion of sex based rights; sex based rights were the ones men had and women didn’t. It was seen as appalling to deny people rights based on their biology.

Reality check: "Women's hard won rights": - did NOT include defining women by biology, the slogan was "biology is not destiny!" - did NOT seek sex segregation, they fought for inclusion of women - did NOT advocate "sex-based rights", they fought AGAINST that and FOR equality regardless of sex

In the USA, a federal system, there are still places for trans people to go and live relatively safety. The UK, which is mirroring a lot of the same steps, is far more centralised. From my personal contacts, the same level of emigration is happening.

It's safe to assume that all major LLMs are scraping Bluesky data to train future models. As an open protocol, Bluesky is one of the few sources of fresh human-generated content that anybody can gobble up. So all this is probably going in the models. There are submarines in the Great Lakes.
