Spooky Season `26 viewing continues with Don't Look Now (1973), a thriller film with elements of the preternatural such as premonitions, ESP, etc. The film is influential and very anxious in tone, and it borrows a tremendous amount of production value from Venice in the Seventies. 🎈🎈🎈🎈/🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈

Who are you people? Seriously, what is this place? (He/him)
Frog in Chrono Trigger's choice to go by "Frog" is powerful because he was cursed to be a frog against his will and has no desire to ever engage in the act of frogging. He's making a statement that while he is an objective sense a frog, he is not a frogger, and continues to conduct himself as a man.
The video game title being Frogger as opposed to just Frog implies that frogging is not something that all frogs naturally do by existing, and that becoming a frogger - one who frogs.- is a conscious choice that only some frogs make.
HALLOWEEN was released on this day in 1978 and there's probably no movie I've written about more! Here are just a few of the things! For @vulture.com, a deep dive into its making and impact: buff.ly/w9gpicV

You know that song "The Boys Are Back in Town", by Thin Lizzy? It was published in 1976. It is half a century old. **hops on my penny-farthing and pedals away** 🚲🧐🎩
Spooky Season `26 viewing continues with Dark Was the Night (2014) a creature feature where a logging operation drives a cryptid into lethal proximity with a small town near the woods. Morose and mopey, the film loses points for weird color design and a ropey CG monster at the end. 🐐🐐/🐐🐐🐐🐐🐐
There should be a yoga pose where you lie under a bed and grab people’s feet like a monster.
THE WITCHING TREE (2019) Acrylic on Illustration Board - 6” x 6” An accidental shape on a scrap of illustration board evoked a sort of Lovecraftian tree. The board originally had a figure sketch on it from the work I did for Lucca Comics & Games.
Why would you ever play a Castlevania game when you could just irl smash a hole in your wall and eat the rotisserie chicken hidden within

Spooky Season `26 viewing continues with Sugar Hill (1974), a Blaxploitation film where a young lady uses voodoo to wreak revenge on the gangsters that murdered her man in an effort to steal his nightclub. A bit sleazy, a bit sexy, interesting intersections of race, religion, and labor. 🧟🧟🧟🧟/🧟🧟🧟🧟🧟
