It is far too easy for those in a position of privilege to judge the actions of others through the lens of that privilege, supporting laws and rules the protect it while vilifying those who don't have it. Honor is not to blindly follow rules, but to see them for what they are, and who they benefit.

“Even if you don’t agree with our specific solutions to problems, we will make sure government is responsive and accountable to you” could be a pretty seductive take for people who think that corruption is bad and voters should have more power

Bay Area friends: would you consider opening your home to these two cuddly cats? A friend found them behind a gas station. Their sibling, a black cat, got adopted, but it appears no one likes orange cats. They are being kept in a bathroom for the time being and need a home.

A friend of mine found these three kittens behind a Bay Area gas station. They are tame, vaccinated, and incredibly affectionate. Unfortunately, she's unable to keep them and I'm trying to find them a home. They are at risk of going to a shelter. Bay Area people, are you open to adopting?

Three kittens in a cage. Two are orange and one is black.

They're probably hoping you won't hear about this. But tomorrow in TX, Tarrant County officials meet to vote on a GOP plan to cut almost HALF of Election Day voting locations, plus 8 early voting locations, some of them on campuses. Not hard to guess why. fortworthreport.org/2026/07/30/t...

However, this mistakes what happens when ONE person has done the reading. "Fuck it, I'm not reading all that" defaults to "I'm going to defer to the person who has."

To write in the classic high fantasy mould, you need not be hung up on food specifically, but there must be SOME very mundane thing you're sincerely interested in and prepared to describe in excruciating detail every time it comes up. Clothing. Furniture. Architecture. It doesn't work without it.

There’s a guy, great king, incredible king. Prester John. Scepter made of emeralds. Descended from the Maggie. Sent me a letter, beautiful letter, tears in his eyes. Begged me to let him help open the strait, big strong guy. I’m giving Iran 24 hours to comply or, Prester John, I might tell him yes.

The effective federal corporate income tax rate: 1950: 50% 1990: 25% 2020: 13% Stop asking "but how we will pay for it?" Restore the corporate tax rate. That is how we will pay for it.

Our coach said that ADHD brains don't really recognize task completion as a win so we have to force our brains to see our wins. I've been doing almost every month and it has been helping. Otherwise, I feel like I am putting in effort with no visible results which demotivates me.

It requires expertise to be able to say, “I do not know the answer to that question, and that is becauae thus far scholarly consensus is that we do not have the knowledge needed at this time to answer that question.” Sometimes “I don’t know” is a far more rigorous answer than people might think.

Lots of people genuinely suffered during Covid, but if your big trauma was that you had to wear a cloth over your face, or you could only eat on the restaurant‘s outdoor patio, or you couldn’t see Wonder Woman 1984 in a theater, please shut the fuck up.
