I confess it is even funnier to me that, for a disturbingly large subset of Tories, the difference between their views and those of NeoNazis is manners, not content. But I digress.

People who love staying silent in the face of oppression love to try to believe that it’s the moral high-ground when the oppressor dies and they smugly tell everyone that they’re judging you for being happy whilst they’re remaining quiet. These are the people who prefer order over justice

This feels so much more harmful than never having posted the threat briefing in the first place. That research was spot-on, which only highlights that you’re apologizing to unambiguous hate groups for finally defending us. Never donating another dime after this.

Question for Amnesty. Trans rights have regressed in the UK. That’s undeniable. The organisations you are apologising to have celebrated these rights being eroded. Are you really that weak that you can’t in good faith defend calling them anti-rights? Because they very clearly fucking are.

AI company Anthropic secretly bought millions of rare and out-of-print books to train its Claude AI model. They used a hydraulic-powered cutting machine to remove the pages for scanning before destruction.

Back from an evening showing of the odyssey. I really enjoyed it. So many good, albeit brief performances. Bloody loud but it's Nolan so expected. Pattinson was a magnificent bastard. Busiest screening I've been since forever. Apparently making good films is good for business, who knew?

Today was nice. Saw my sister. Went to the Tate modern (haven't been in forever). Went to the Roland Store (got a souvenir because I can't afford the shiny toys). Then London Trans Pride which was huuuuge. Met lots of new peeps. Lots of cis people representing.

A metal pin in the shape of the Roland TR 808 drum machine.

When the story of why humanity didn't stop climate change is written, it will feature front pages like this. Even as the skies blacken with climate change-induced wildfires, right wing media continue their relentless crusade against measures to tackle it.

The Times: Net zero risks blackouts. Below a photo of French wildfires.

I love this! My overwhelming lay-person take home from the British museum’s Stonehenge exhibition was that the Bronze Age was all about transformation literally and figuratively. So wool as ceramic is perfect 😻

Finished a small crochet bowl It is based on the Bronze Age ‘grape cups’ -possible incense burners - that have been found amongst BA grave goods in Wiltshire 🏺 #Crochet #FibreArt #HumanMade #BronzeAge

A photograph of a crocheted bowl on top of another one. The main bowl is small, made of grey tweed yarn. It has puff stitches running round the bottom, with herring bone stitching on the rim. It is sitting on top of a ‘terracotta’ bowl, which is upside down and wider.

it has been an exercise in how a directed propaganda campaign can be highly effective, and seeing otherwise liberal people fall for it has disgusted and outraged me. People who lived through and fought against an extremely similar campaign of homophobia in the early 1980s, even!

Worth adding some numbers to this. The British press decided to make trans rights into an issue. It just wasn’t an issue before. This was a top-down decision. shado-mag.com/articles/opi...
