One of the (many) reasons I think people are so anti-AI is that it’s a gratuitous display of wealth inequality. The average person’s life is difficult, expensive, and getting any kind of loan sucks - unless you’re raising billions of dollars to build an AI data center.

Look, Glen Hansard made some good music in his life, but his relationship with Markéta Irglová was weird and probably grooming back before people used that word, and the fact that he's getting a ton of touching tributes is kind of gross.

So many on here mourning Glen Hansard having only discovered him because of his music and not realising he was a fucking grooming creep.
Genuinely thought when people were talking about Jimothy it was just a portmanteau for Duhamel and Olyphant. I can't tell them apart either!
My boiling hot take on this is that, if tech companies are going to fund this kind of research (looking at Schmidt too), then the money needs to be given *no strings* to an independent arm's length research body, pooled with other funding, and treated as a donation not as direct funding.
