Companies pay employer national insurance (ENI) on director pay. Partners in limited liability partnerships (LLPs) share profit, instead of salary. LLPs don't pay ENI on that. £150k ENI for every £1m of profit shared is avoided. Big four law firms alone avoided paying £4bn. Must end this perk.

I really wonder what the story is of Tom Watson's total moral collapse. Is it really just the money and some narcissistic contrarianism? He used to champion digital rights as <the> key Labour ally for @openrightsgroup.org Then he turned betting industry lobbyist, then crackpot theorist, now this.

What if every city stopped advertising pollution? From fast fashion to high-carbon products, advertising shapes what we see, what we normalise, and ultimately the choices we’re encouraged to make. Bristol has already taken action, becoming the first council to restrict fast-fashion advertising.

The Ed Sheeran thing really does demonstrate that this isn't just an obsession of a fringe group of lefty weirdos. Supporting Palestinians against Israeli genocide is a really normie position. The problem is support for Israel remains an absolutely immovable condition for the *elite*.

The cost of living crisis isn't over. Conflict, climate breakdown, and corporate greed will keep putting upwards pressure on prices. And central banks will keep putting downwards pressure on wages. graceblakeley.substack.com/p/trumps-war...

Trump’s war keeps escalating. Prices keep rising.

The cost of living crisis isn’t over; plus the economics of tech CEO’s apocalyptic warnings; and why executive pay keeps climbing.

As Ben Delo's record £36m Reform donation is headline news, I can't emphasise enough that the media ought to be reporting on Delo's heinous funding of antisemitic conspiracy theorists in the High Court – anonymous contributors to the horrifying neo-Nazi account shown below. bsky.app/profile/luke...

A sample of neo-Nazi posts by the @ParallaxOptics account, displaying grotesque antisemitic caricatures and violent Jew hate. The @ParallaxOptics account's banner image depicting Adolf Hitler.Post by @ParallaxOptics of an article anonymously written by Nina Power and Daniel Miller: ON CULTS II "If we're proposing the the Left is a cult, the first question is what do cults want in general?"

I can now reveal that crypto billionaire Ben Delo—pardoned by Trump after a conviction for anti-money-laundering violations—privately funded the failed libel action brought against me by neo-Nazi conspiracy theorists Nina Power and Daniel Miller to the tune of at least £300,000.

Given what has happened to the RNLI, this is when wider civil society should speak in solidarity about the far-right and political parties attacking charities delivering vital services for vulnerable people. The voluntary sector is part of our social fabric, it needs protecting.

The logic of this from the Chief Rabbi seems to be: there is nothing that the Natanyahu Govt could do that would merit sanctions, as it would "feed into" a "hostile discourse" about Israel. And it dangerously conflates all Jews with the actions of Likud. Dire on so many levels.

Nadine Batchelor-Hunt@nadinebh.bsky.social · last wk.

This is an overtly political statement unbecoming for a chief rabbi that conflates Jews and Israel and does not represent the views of me or people like me I could say more, but it’s almost Rosh Hashanah and I don’t want to start the new year badly - and, frankly, its awfulness speaks for itself

Miliband says the UK wants a continued good relationship with ‘Green-line Israel’, but such an entity doesn’t exist and the Israeli gvt opposes it coming into existence. Eventually the UK will have to sanction the actual regime which claims all the territory between the river and the sea.

As a fellow trans woman, Kat is one of our hardest workers in the party, and a notable figure in the movement which pulled the Green Party back from transphobia. While others wrote it off as a lost cause, she made real change. I trust her analysis, and her forthrightedness, and you should too.

Kat Bristow@kathrynbristow.uk · last wk.

I don't think that Stats for Lefties was suspended for being trans. I say this as someone that was suspended by the same Green Party body as Eleanora, in my case it was for being trans back in 2021 when the party was in a very different place than it is today. www.opendemocracy.net/en/trans-uk-...

Incredible work here—a hollow statement that changes absolutely nothing, yet will manage to anger everyone in the process. Truly, these are The Adults, and I am so glad they are back in the room.

Exclusive: British diplomats have privately told the US that the new sanctions Ed Miliband is imposing on Israeli settlements today are largely symbolic and will have no material impact on the UK's wider relationship with Israel on trade or security

A behind-closed-doors diplomatic effort is underway to soothe the Trump administration's response, amid fears that the sanctions could provide the first major setback in US relations for Andy Burnham, people familiar with the matter said

Burnham spoke to Trump by phone on Monday afternoon and told him what was coming

The reality that Britain's relationship with Israel will largely continue as is, despite stronger rhetoric from ministers about a fundamental reset, may disappoint some on the left who the announcement is designed to win over

The dark irony of people pearl clutching about the ethnic cleaning statements is if you actually spoke to the average hill top settler they would tell you: yes, we are ethnically cleansing - that is exactly what we are doing
