To me, the foundational tension of modern AI is this: If the stated goal is to create a human-level intelligence that can replace human workers but lacks human rights, then the real aspiration is slavery; but if human-level intelligence is impossible, then the industry's stated goal is a lie.

I think there'll come a day when the internet as we know it just burns. The posts and ideas people remember will transform into aphorisms, idioms, and folklore. People will say they can't be killed in a way that matters, or that they'll walk backwards into hell, and it will just be their parlance.

I think about this a lot and for me the *extremely* simplified answer to this is that some people approach art to think and some approach it to feel, and if you're mostly in the latter category there's a lot about the text that will go right by you (or you'll just ignore) as you bathe in the vibe

Great piece. These magic bullet solutions are usually flawed. Interrogate, analyze, read source material, train your brain to need and expect complex solutions not simple ones.

But the paper said the opposite! I wonder how many journalists just took their word for it and didn't check?
