Writing a book: First you're going to go quietly mad for a few years. You're going to make a private precious thing that only you know about. It's delicate, introverted and lonely work. Ok? Good so now PUT IT OUT THERE FOR EVERY PERSON TO SEE!!! NOW SELL IT!!! MARKET THE PRECIOUS SECRET BABY!!!!!!

I did go to the gym today today and did my assisted pull-ups and dips, but I didn't much feel like taking a picture. It wasn't the best session, and I still don't feel great in myself.

Since this is my only public-facing internet presence, here's my AI policy: I don't use AI for my writing. I don't use it for idea generation or editing. I don't use it for publicity. I have not in the past, and will not in the future. I have "no AI" statements in all the contracts that I sign.

I'm not sure why we're posting about ai but I don't use AI in my writing, in my cover art, etc. I've had every feature that could automatically modify text in Word turned off for decades, and AI is just more of the same. Every edit lovingly done by hand.

If anyone is wondering, I don't use generative AI. It offers me nothing useful creatively and nothing trustworthy as research. The environmental impact is appalling and the companies who developed it stole copyright intellectual property knowing that is illegal. GenAI is dishonest at every level.

All of the people who are telling you to 'just get used to AI because it's here to stay' are the ones who feel the need to convince you not to fight it. Just a thought. Happy Wednesday!

Anyway, so my book that was written with ZERO use of AI is out in less than 2 weeks. The Toronto launch is coming up soon thereafter (details below). The cover is also AI-free and by renowned Chilean illustrator Loreto Salinas Retamal. Pre-order now: www.starsandsabers.com/books/the-as...

Cover for THE ASTRONAUT AMONG THE FLOWERS AND OTHER STORIES by P.A. Cornell. Image shows an astronaut in a white spacesuit lying in purple flowers under and pink and purple sky. The title appears at the top in white text. At the bottom, also in white text, is the author’s name under which it reads: Nebula, World Fantasy, and Aurora Award Finalist.

Happy Wednesday all! It's been a busy start, and I'm hoping to get back to gym today. Not feeling so bad compared to the last few days, so fingers crossed it isn't too bad. Hope you're all having a good one!

‘The EU has come under fire for placing more demands on businesses, and rules that will ultimately force all content to be labelled given the rapidly growing widespread use of AI across Europe.‘ Please, spare us the sob story. If you can make it, you can label it. www.euronews.com/my-europe/20...

AI-generated label becomes mandatory in the EU

Companies creating or using AI-generated content have to label it clearly for users to know, as part of an EU guideline implemented on Sunday. #EuropeNews

Look, I'm busy fighting chronic pain and depression here. I'll make this quick: -I don't use GenAI because I actually love writing. -It's built on theft. -It's an environmental disaster. -It's constructed by corpos to addict and disable you. -My younger self would've been addicted to it.
