Conservative men mean "protection" the same way the Mafia does - they don't want to create a world where women are safe, they want to create a world where their safety is a commodity in the hands of men who can turn it on or off at a whim.

There are some great threads going about how awful sugar plantations were. I just want to add something as a historical romance author: every time you see someone adding a sugar cube to tea in a historical romance, think of those threads and the blood-soaked cost of the sugar.

One of these days I’m going to do a long thread about why I think the Olympics should be cancelled. In short, the tradeoffs of massive corruption and harm to athletes outweighs the marginal benefits to casual viewers. And it doesn’t promote liberal internationalism like some people think it does.
They don't have capacity to terrorize more than 2-3 cities at a time. Which means they rotate teams to new cities without relief. Which means consistent resistance by fresh activists in each new city will break them over time. Which means if you're city's not occupied, rest up and get ready.
