The characteristic white #skin patches of #vitiligo are caused by a lack of skin pigments – or so we thought. New #research suggests that #melanocytes merely enter a 💤 dormant state – from which they may be awakened. http://dlvr.it/TTpHsx

Atlas of lysosomal aging reveals a metabolite signature shared with lysosomal storage disorders
Lysosomal dysfunction is a well-recognized feature of aging. Here, we used a suite of tools for rapid lysosomal isolation to construct a multitissue atlas of the metabolite changes lysosomes undergo d...

What determines how epithelial cells divide when shape cues disappear? Our new work shows that division follows the axis of maximal stress anisotropy. 🚨 #REVIEW 🚨 Wang et al. describe how extracellular vesicles & particules contribute to the systemic effects of cancer. 👇 📖
Systemic health impact of cancer-associated extracellular vesicles and particles - Nature Reviews Cancer
In this Review, Wang et al. describe how extracellular vesicles and particles contribute to the systemic effects of cancer by providing a form of intercellular communication between tumours and the host through the transfer of bioactive cargo to recipient cells. These systemic effects include immune dysregulation in pre-metastatic niches, thrombosis and cardiovascular disease, liver metabolic dysfunction, glucose metabolism disorders and cachexia, suggesting that holistic approaches to cancer treatment are necessary to simultaneously target the tumour and its multi-organ paraneoplastic effects.

Starting to write up the first mechanistic paper from my lab about regulation of endosomal PI(3)P. We see retromer tubules (Vps35) budding from PI(3)P positive sorting endosomes with Actin at the neck. When PI(3)P homeostasis is perturbed this organisation breaks down and cells cant recycle cargo.
