If you want a senator who's gonna lick some boots, go vote for Rogers. But if you want a senator who's going to stand up to Trump, you've got your option.
my neighborhood 7-11 closed a couple years ago and tried to reopen but couldn’t get the permit approved because there’s a preschool next door and 7-11s sell alcohol (the previous permit was grandfathered in). i saw a fence going up around the lot recently and looked up what was moving in: a gun shop
No leftist voters wanted a Trump presidency, and a huge majority of us voted for Harris. You know that of course, but it is infinitely easier to blame a mythical leftist boogeyman than it is to confront the stark inadequacies of the party and the candidate you so hyper-emotionally defend.

Scapegoats are emotionally cheaper than systems. Blaming the left asks nothing of you. It feels good and righteous and right. Asking whether your institutions and your party failed you requires dismantling beliefs you have spent your lifetime building. That is emotionally expensive.
Its time we accept that our governments don’t view housing as a human right. They do respect property rights, as we saw when ABC councillors expressed empathy for home owners facing negative impacts from the Villages Plan. But in the same week, renters at Myron Manor were given zero consideration.
This sentiment comes up again and again. Engineers getting skinner-box addiction to chatbot-based coding. "Just one more prompt and it might fix the problem!" Is this really what we want in classrooms?

Really thoughtful article. For many university students, this is THE moral dilemma of their days, and some are conscientiously objecting to using it in their own educational pursuits. Yet Vancouver will now be foisting AI on students whose development may not yet give them the agency they need.

In BC rich people already get extra votes in local elections. Believe it or not, non-resident property owners are allowed to vote in Vancouver's municipal election this October. BC should ban this undemocratic practice immediately.

When we replace ABC on School Board, we'll work to pause Chatbots in classrooms and conduct an AI Audit which will include broad consultation with parents, educators, and students. COPE will always fight to prioritize the well-being, safety, and educational development of students in Vancouver.

I was watching Tom Hiddleston host a TV thing about Pompeii that had lots of re-enactments in it, but I had to turn it off. It was so offensive to me that they tried to tell this ancient story of Pompeii but didn’t cast *any* Pompeiians. It nearly caused me to erupt.

That is, until the "blue no matter who" Dem donor class starts openly supporting MAGA candidates whose interests, after all, really benefit that donor class. Dem socialists, while very popular despite this, are seen as the biggest threat to power, Dem or GOP.

There's a perverse symbolism in the legacy of White racism sheltering under the bowers of all African Americans have done for this country while patiently waiting for the chance to go back to insisting we are a drain upon their society and that they never needed us at all.
