It's a baked-in assumption that the person being confronted *will* be trans, and that they will immediately comply, even though there is no means of enforcement whatsoever. What if the person is cis? What if they're trans and just lie? This situation genuinely appears to be beyond their imagination.
There a million things wrong with the EHRC guidance, as you all know, but for me the weirdest thing about it all is that its authors don't even seem to be aware of the possibility that someone asked to leave a "single sex" facility might refuse.

i have never once voluntarily used AI for my job, the only time i did was when we had to do a mandatory training session on how to use copilot to look over our operating statements during which it repeatedly just made up numbers that weren't there and corporate quietly stopped talking about it

My leader has been using Gemini to read his emails, create task lists, due dates, and assignments. Yesterday, he realized that we have a C Suite level presentation TODAY. The automation he was relying on had not even acknowledged the email(s) about it. I'll cry happy tears when it's gone away.

I saw a video from a recovering alcoholic. He talked about how he used to buy rounds of drinks all the time. It wasn't generosity. He was trying to get everyone else hammered so he wouldn't feel so guilty and awkward about being sloshed himself. I feel like similar happens with some AI pushers.

And an entire class of people was forced to work in gruelling and dangerous conditions to accommodate it. Talk to any nurse, or bin-collector, or supermarket worker. I don't think they felt "connected with their community" so much as exploited more than halfway to death.
Early COVID mitigations showed us the power of collective action. The environment began to heal. People with disabilities were accommodated. An entire flu strain was eradicated. Folks reconnected with their local communities. We worked together & saved lives.

I want to pay taxes for roads I don't drive on, schools for children I don't have, training for doctors to do operations I will never need, and I don't understand how hard it is for some people to fathom that society, humanity is caring about things beyond one's own personal benefit.
Yep. I've been saying for *years* that as a neurodivergent cis bloke, quite apart from the basic human decency angle which should be enough by itself, it was in my interest to support trans people because it was *fucking obvious* the bigots were coming after us next. *Years* ago.

If we care about disability justice, one of the lowest-hanging fruits is masks in healthcare. It remains unacceptable that vulnerable patients must ask, sometimes beg, healthcare workers to mask, while also explaining to them why respirator masks are better

I’d rather set fire to my own legs than be famous. I just want to be able to write and publish books until I die, learn a fuckload of new stuff in the process, and give everything I've got to make each one better than the one before it.
This is a very good point and what I have been trying to articulate myself: Kid and YA media is not an inferior product, it is quite difficult to do well in fact. However, its goal is to approach big and serious topics from a kid level.

But it has to treat them like it's your first time hearing about it.
